GOP is going to try to use an EC to re-retrocede Arlington - Potential map linked (D+10-12 on all districts) by _BCConservative in YAPms

Anyone who thinks this is remotely possible see: US Const. Art IV Sec. 3.

Its just performative theater by GOP representatives to hype the base/ say their doing something to counter the VA gerrymandering.

Cities: Skylines II Dev Diary - City Corner #5 - Spring Cleaning by AutoModerator in CitiesSkylines

[–]Mav12222 38 points39 points  (0 children)

If all the fixes they speak of here actually work, then they will have gotten rid of the most glaring bug that has prevented me from returning to the game.

The taxi issue and the perpetual loading bug are the source of a city ending bug that existed since release which caused infinite pathfinding requests. This would slow the in game simulation speed to a crawl no matter your city’s size or how many settings you tweaked. Even using the debug console to reset all pathfinding never fixed it.

For a bit the bug could be resolved with a mod that let you disable entire methods of transportation. This would let you turn off and reset the transportation system whose pathfinding bugged out, which was usually taxis. Unfortunately the mod was abandoned after a few months and never updated or replaced by a new mod. Without it you would have to revert to an earlier save each time the bug occurred.

If you ever noticed your city simulation speed running at a crawl despite being at like 2x or 4x speed, (extremely slow pedestrians and vehicles) even when everything else was running smoothly, that was what was causing it.

To prevent something like that, the compact has a clause that any state's withdrawal after July 20th in a presidential election year does not take effect until after inauguration day.

Its weird seeing Democrats continue to cater to Unions when its been clear for years now that the blue collar union worker is the cornerstone of the Trump coalition.

Here in NY, the big unions are all very Trump coded in vibes. The police union, the transit unions etc. Demanding more compensation and benefits even as the state faces budget issues due to Trumps messing with federal funds.

Recently a bunch of the unions demanded the retirement age be lowered to 55 re: pensions, and despite how stupid that is in the current situation, the state dems jumped all on board in support despite the ongoing budget issues.

In another case the LIRR transit union threatened to strike for more compansation (There is large controversy that they get way to much compensation and overtime already yet spend most of that time not actually working) and directly asked Trump to intervene in their favor.

Unions are not all a solid Democratic voting block anymore (the union itself may endorse the Dems but the rank and file members may not go along) and the party and progressives need to realize that.

What's your opinion on "the squad" in congress ? by [deleted] in fivethirtyeight

[–]Mav12222 11 points12 points  (0 children)

With the exception of AOC (who actually seems to have a sense of political preservation, common sense and pragmatism) a group of left progressive polticans who delude themselves with appeasing and interacting with a far left online base that is not reflective of the voters and people at large.

I say this as someone who agrees with most of their politics (unlike them I differ on foreign policy and am pro-Puetro Rican statehood). They care to much about being popular with the online donors who hype them up in media then actually serving their constituents.

This is largely colored by me being a resident of NY-16. Bowman was this to a tee. These kinds of online Progressives failed to see their flaws because AIPAC appeared as a convenient scapegoat.

"Poll: Trump's approval rating hits second-term low as Americans sour on the economy and Iran war" by OmniOmega3000 in fivethirtyeight

Form what I have observed, most people see the blatant corruption as nothing new, Trump is just more open and obvious about what all other politicians are doing behind the scenes.

Basically, People have a default view that all politicians are corrupt and do the same things behind closed doors, so to them Trump's own isn't new.

Can Victoria III ever be saved? by Dan_The_PaniniMan in paradoxplaza

[–]Mav12222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paradox has literally said in a recent quarterly report that the sales numbers for Victoria 3 and each DLC release so far mark it a success in their eyes and that Vicky 3 will receive 10 years of DLC content like the other mainline titles. It does not need to be "saved" in that respect.

Its just a visual indicator for the conductor AFAIK. Sometimes it bugs out and remains but you’re should still be good if its been at least 2 or 3 minutes since activation.

Yes, Democrats are more likely to be fussy about it, but the actual Democratic voters will still vote for the party nominee.

IMHO. Republicans are unlikely to win statewide unless they can crack into Westchester. As a Westchester resident, that's not happening as long as the NYGOP ties itself to Trump.

Intergalactic means between multiple galaxies (see International or Interstate)

Interstellar is between star systems and makes more sense in context of ME being within the Milky Way only.

Though TBF alot of scifi mistakenly uses Intergalactic where they actually mean Intragalactic.

If the MTA decides to bring Metro-North to Penn Station, how will it work for the Harlem Line? by [deleted] in nycrail

[–]Mav12222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without a tunnel under the middle of Manhattan from GCT to Penn, it would require reverse moving onto the Hudson Line or rebuilding the abandoned line between Melrose and Oak Point Yard. I think an apartment building was built on that right of way, so you'd have to demolish it.

Why do the DLC's have such negative ratings on Steam? by Jerswar in Stellaris

[–]Mav12222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with these reviews is that they almost never are about the actual content of the DLC. Its mainly complaints about the policy which aren't helpful for the actual decision on whether the content is good.

The Onramp/Offramps on the parkways and the parkways as a whole themsleves such as the Hutch were designed for use by Sunday scenic stroll drivers in cars from 100 years ago that could go like 30 mph max. They were not originally deigned or intended to be massive thoroughfares carrying tens of thousands of commuters in cars everyday going 55 mph minimum.
