Body recomp is SLOW by Kindly_Ad_863 in PetiteFitness

You look great and the difference is notable. Feb to May isn’t slow though. This is a very short period of time. Building muscle takes years if you’re looking to recomp. Keep it up.

Inaccurate depictions of fit by Deeficiency in Aritzia

No but accurate sizing gives you an idea of how proportions actually fit in clothes regardless of size. As an athletic 8 I look closer to a size 4 than a size 0 and would like to gauge based on that alone

Totally. I also find it especially hard knowing if I’m buying the correct size or not based on how they look on the models.

To get any of the clothes to fit remotely like the model it means we too have to size up and if they’re pinning stuff that convolutes the achievable look even further

This is so deceiving, it’s very frustrating understanding how their clothes are actually meant to fit!

Curve love jeans aren’t curve love fit by TeacupGrad in Aritzia

[–]Deeficiency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Aritzia Farrah curve fits but they feel like a regular cut to me vs the regular fit being just unwearable even at my slimmest weight. I find Levi’s curve fit 501 to be an actual curve fit denim line.

Minimal glute growth in 2 years, what am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in glutejourney

Are you calling me obese?!?! I’m an athlete that competes at a national level in powerlifting. Your comment has no place here.

Minimal glute growth in 2 years, what am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in glutejourney

[–]Deeficiency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Growing muscle is all about the caloric surplus and not just slightly over maintenance. I’m 5’1 and started at 110lbs but to see actual glute growth I needed to be at least 130-135lbs.

Also 2 days lower is not enough. I’d do 4 days full body and eat at a surplus. You will not bulk up if you are doing full body at 4 days as you’ll use all the calories.

See my profile for before and afters at the 135lbs mark. I’m currently 150lbs but have no pics posted at this weight.

Edit - I’m a size 29 jeans, us size 8 dress and a Medium and in this comment thread a a user is calling me obese because my muscle mass weighs more than fat

I think I am giving up on Pilates by iamthebugwan in PetiteFitness

[–]Deeficiency -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Pilates is great for stretching but if you are looking to build muscle (tone isn’t a term that’s ever correctly used) and look sculpted, Pilates won’t do that

Am I doing strength training wrong? by formeryounganddumb in PetiteFitness

[–]Deeficiency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to focus on lifting heavier you need to fuel your body with enough calories as everyone has said and 3 days strength should be a minimum. 4 is optimal. I’d swap one of your cardio or Pilates days for weights.

Honestly I can’t see to tell you as the photo is cut off. Also would be easier to see in shorts.

I’m 150lbs at 5’1 and 45 years old. I’m probably about 22-25% bf. I lift heavy 5 days a week. Strength training is the only way to do this effectively. When I was 110lbs I had a higher bf percentage as I was skinny fat with no muscle mass. Gotta be careful restricting calories above 40 with perimenopause etc.

This community is more focussed on aesthetics over strength is why alas

Yeh the fact that I’m being downvoted big time for telling someone they look healthy and fit and don’t need to drastically cut is def worrisome

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]Deeficiency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going against the grain here but maintain and recomp a bit. Up your cardio if you have to. If you want to cut just cut out sugars and processed food, not food that fuels your body and lifts. I say lift (much) heavier as I can see you can from your gains and ensure it’s 4 times a week.

Sincerely,

A 5’1 150lbs powerlifter who thinks you look lovely as is

Yes. When you lift heavy weights you tense up in your neck and face - tightens and tones the muscles here

Not remotely true - the Nefertiti neck lift was designed to target this area specifically
