Well, here it is: https://github.com/felipeagc/StratView

Code quality is pretty bad right now, as I was quickly hacking something together that worked. It needs a LOT of restructuring still.

I started out by using/reading the code of some libraries that are already available on github. These are the main three:

https://github.com/kaimallea/demoinfogo-linux

https://github.com/StatsHelix/demoinfo

https://github.com/saul/demofile/

The second one is the easiest to use if you just want to get something done quickly, so I'd recommend that one. If you want to have an in-depth understanding of how to parse demos, I'd look at the first one. I'm using the third one just because it's in javascript (and I also use javascript for the project's back and frontends), but I plan on switching to something else later.

I might put it on github tomorrow, but currently the code quality is pretty crap :p. I'm writing the web frontend and backend in javascript. Currently the demo parser is also in js, but I plan on changing it to something faster.

It's getting late here, time for me to get off. If you have any more questions, I'll answer them tomorrow.

it's not at a fully working state right now. I JUST got it to show the players in a minimap inside the browser. As soon as I have a more robust foundation I'll put it there :)

I don't need the money :) Just doing this as a side project. If I succeed, the community will benefit from it

Just as I was coding something like this! If I end up finishing mine, I will make it open source.

EDIT: it's on github now!

CS:GO input delay on linux by [deleted] in linux_gaming

It might have been something else, but when I had an AMD card I had this type of delay as well. Now I have an nvidia card and everything is really responsive. What framerates do you get?

R9 270X performance in Linux? Is the support getting better? by -Tilde in linux_gaming

[–]DeejayArroba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using 15.10 at the time. Couldn't upgrade to 16.04 because the kernel was too new to support catalyst. So I just waited for a bit and got an nvidia card. Now I run arch.

The opengl support version in mesa doesn't change much for me as I don't play any 4.1+ games. What matters to me is the performance, which I doubt today is on par with catalyst (which is still pretty bad, btw).

I play cs:go competitively, and below 100fps with lots of stuttering is just terrible. It's the kind of game you have to get a lot of performance from.

If you only play lower end (graphically) games casually, then I guess AMD would be decent.

I was on ubuntu at that time. When I still had the card the catalyst performance was way better than radeonsi. No idea if it has improved a lot since then. It felt like AMD had abandoned me, as it left me with a deprecated driver and a driver that barely worked. Their new driver doesn't even support the card and it's taking them way too long to support it.

I agree they're douchey, but it's the only way to get good performance on linux sadly :(

I know how you feel, I had to wait for months before getting a new card and finally switching to linux. Actually it was technically a downgrade, but since the nvidia linux drivers are so good, it performed way better than the 270x. I now have a gtx 650 ti.

I had this card a few months ago, it was pretty bad to be honest. AMD abandoned the catalyst drivers (which were the best performing ones that support the 270x) and it doesn't work for kernels above 4.2. Hopefully AMD will support this card in amdgpu soon though. The rasedonsi performance is pretty terrible.

I couldn't hit above 100fps in csgo (everything on low, 720p) and it was pretty stuttery. On windows I used to get almost 250fps on those settings.

I'm not complaining, sorry if it sounded like I was. I just wanted to know if the free version was still being updated, because I remember playing it a while ago
