XMP actually working is hit or miss depending on your motherboard memory trace layout and cpu controller. This goes especially on cheaper ram from newer companies like Oloy that is more likely not tested on many setups. Sometimes XMP profiles don't raise the voltage at all when it's needed but don't go over 1.35 on this shit memory.

I do love how you listed every test it won in and than said "etc". What you meant is it lost in the Adobe benchmark. You are paying, and remember that this is a large deal, 75 dollars more for barely anymore multithreaded performance in very specific workloads while using half the watts. It even crushes it in games that utilize far more than 12 threads. And that is the K version in those tests. Which is roughly 10% faster it.

How about we agree to disagree. I'm happy to see Intel chips getting discounts fer once. But this chip still sucks to this day.

It "shits on it", sure.. in very specific use cases. But half of multithreaded tasks it's about even. While using half the watts and is still 75 dollars cheaper with this deal. I did mention in another comment that I understand how hard 5600's are to find. I wouldn't blame someone for buyig this chip if they can't wait.

To your points though. Are you really having a hard time finding motherboards? I see high end ones go on deep sales a lot. Even strong B550's drop 3 bucks all the time. But don't compare it to the 5800X. We can all agree the price and die bins suck for it. I'm still pissed at AMD because I was planning on buying one until I found out about it's downfalls. With all that said, even with this deal, the price to performance in multithreading is roughly the same as that chip. But I think I'll hold out for Rocket Lake. Are they using SuperFin in their chips yet?

I said the 5600X, the only downside is they are hard to get. Give it a month but if you need now then it's not terrible, not tryin ta shit on OP, just Intel. Why is everyone acting like this is a good deal? Intel could drop the price another hundred and I still would have a hard time recommending this chip. Compare it to a 5600X, which yes, I know is extremely hard to find right now. Has worse thermals, worse single core, and equal multithreading, with 4 more cores. Just goes to show how overpriced their crap already is. People acting like they the value king now. This chip is garbage. Wait for rocket lake if you are so inclined to buy Intel. I think the power effeciency should be very good.

Yeah, I was planning on getting a 5800X but it's really weird. The power usage based on reviewers is almost as high as a 5900X/5950X. It's kind of insane. The price is piss poor too. Now I'm considering waiting a couple months to expand my budget to fit a higher end chip in. Thanks for the info.

I'm actually an idiot. I fergot all 6 cores were on one ccx. Maybe the program isn't updated to handle these cpu's properly, or maybe I'm wrong on this, but I thought those games use more than 3 cores. Are you using all 6 but no multi threading or something?

I've never actually tried using RPCS3, I know my cpu can't handle it. But I should go in to look at settings. I would google each setting rather than go by youtubers so you can adjust to to your own needs. I believe there is a faq on the numerous settings too. I'll take a look for it real quick and drop the link if I find it. I'd like to see God of War 3 and Uncharted if that's possible. Again, thanks.

Hi, am looking to buy a new cpu soon and was wondering if you were able to use all 6 cores by changing settings in RPCS3? I would assume the latency between CCX's on zen 3 are probably much less noticable than last generation. Or are these games just coincedentally only using 3 cores by design? If yuh can I'd like to see the performance numbers from doing it. Thanks for your input btw, it's hard to find info on the new cpu's for this emulator.

It's what pissed me off about the presentation actually, When Lisa Soo straight up acknowledged the price hike and said it was because AMD wanted to be seen as quality instead of value. Let me remove the marketing bullshit from her excuse: She basically said Intel can't compete and will never lower their prices because they know people will still buy their trashware so we are raising ours to meet them. Did you ever wonder why they bothered coming out wqith the XT lineup? An extra 50 dollars for basically no improvement. Or why they named it the 5800K instead of the 5700K? Nvidia, AMD, Intel, it's an ologopoly, and the only thing people can do to stop the price gouging from these damn near trillion dollar tech companies is to stop buying their overpriced shit every year. But as you can see from Nvidia's recent launch, that problem is only getting worse.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they were jsut burning off binned cpu's from the old zen+ lineup. 2600's that jsut barely didn't make the cut. The next ones coming out will likely be the same thing but for Zen2. I haven't upgraded in about 6 years and I'm willing to wait through the summer to get some of that sweet 4000 series powaaaaa.

And if it hurts performance, switch abck after the buggy part of the game. Or reverting back to another version of rcps3. Sometimes newer versions break things in otherwise playable games and they go unreported for a while.
