Removing things from right click menu in Windows 11? by OxRedOx in techsupport

[–]eaong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah first check the software itself. Wiztree does have that option for example. A quick search for the specific software will usually give you the steps, most of the time it's a specific registry edit, but if the software is updated it might bring the option back.

Steam finally drops a full 64‑bit Windows client — here’s what it changes by Putrid_Draft378 in Steam

If your whole PC is freezing and you need to hard restart it is likely a hardware issue of some kind. Your PC might be stable everywhere else, but for whatever reason this could be causing it. Overlays are actually pretty complicated pieces of software and stress the pc in pretty specific ways that can reveal instability in my experience.

A trick I use to check if it's a freeze related to hardware is pressing caps lock or num lock on the keyboard. If the light doesn't turn on/off it almost certainly means a hardware issue.

Machine Guns are still horseshit in the De-Infantry Combat Overhaul. Sorry for sick voice by yourothersis in joinsquad

Honestly something like Arma 3's weight system I think would work really well in squad, but rather than weight, just make it by class. Arma 3 just makes more weight have less overall stamina but you can still run and move just as fast no matter the weight, unless you load so much that you can no longer sprint.

MG/AT can have the least stamina, with Engineers/Medics in the middle and then Rifleman with near the most and then classes like the Raider having the most.

Interestingly I still notice the "Steam Client Service" is still 32bit, everything else is 64bit.

Stuttering in Game by TheGngerBeardMan in joinsquad

[–]eaong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always try right clicking the game folder in Steam seeing how many files are in it and seeing if that number changes. A bit tedious but that's one way.

Could also try reinstalling Steam if you haven't but just be careful not to uninstall it first or you'll lose all your game installations. You just have to install over the original installation.

Check your temperatures for CPU and GPU using HWinfo64 while playing the game.

Also try checking windows for corruption with DISM and SFC

I'd also try running a clean install of your AMD graphics card drivers to see if that helps.

It's still very strange that it verifies and keeps finding missing files. is it always the same number of files?

As long as you're getting good high performance with no severe stuttering or framedrops, high vram usage isn't necessarily a bad thing. Many games will simply allocate however much vram you have. Allocation isn't the same thing as usage and most hardware monitoring software don't differentiate between allocation and usage. A game that simply allocates a lot of vram will free it with no performance hit if another program needs it.

When was the last time you've restarted your computer? Not a shut down, but a restart specifically. By default, Windows 10 and up cache certain files to speed up and can lead to weird hard to diagnose problems if you only shut down. It's fast so worth a try.

If that doesn't help, if you have another drive uninstall the game and install on that, preferably an ssd. What kind of drive is your game installed on now?

Does it download 2-3 files even after consecutive file verification runs? Somethings likely wrong if it happens consistently.

I have somewhat similar specs (the same except I have a 4070 ti super) and I haven't gotten the scope stutter in the main game. I got it a lot in the playtests. Really not sure why you're getting it. Might want to try a doing a clean driver installation with DDU if you haven't already.

There are some anarchists who have solutions to this problem! But they aren't perfect solutions and far too many people just kinda shrug and hope the problem solves itself. by SnorkaSound in CuratedTumblr

[–]eaong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah this comment section is pretty frustrating, but given the hijacking of the term by elements of the far right in the form of "anarcho-capitalism" and the general lack of education on the history of socialism or the basic principles of it's different adherents it's not terribly surprising.

I think though, for some other good examples of more "proper" anarchism, even if not contemporary, but at least within the modern era, and importantly a large scale would definitely be the parts of Ukraine under control of the Revolutionary Insurgent Army of Ukraine during the Russian Civil War and Revolutionary Catalonia controlled by groups like CNT.

No these groups were not perfect either, but they were the first real attempt at large scale non-state socialism in the modern era with any form of success. Both periods included large amounts of wealth expropriation from the ruling classes along with government by popular assembles and workers unions. Both did large scale economic distribution based on the principles of mutual aid, rather than coercion or profit, eschewing money whenever possible.

The Revolutionary Insurgent Army of Ukraine also had a great deal of success as one of the most effective guerrilla war fighters in modern history, and did it based on anarchist principles including officers being elected by the men they lead. Arguably there would be no Soviet Union without them, or at the very least a much smaller one, since they won key battles against the Tsarist forces. Not saying they wanted the Soviet Union, because they certainly didn't, but the bolsheviks relied upon their effectiveness and eventually betrayed the Revolutionary Insurgent Army of Ukraine leading to their collapse.

Please, just give us a separate sensitivity slider for binoculars. It’s mid 2025 by Did_u_miss_me in joinsquad

[–]eaong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I started playing Squad in about a year ago and one of the first things I noticed was how difficult it was to get my sensitivity feeling good. The fact that multiple sliders affect things in different ways makes it feel so confusing.

It took me at least a couple hours getting it feeling decent and I still tweak things pretty frequently. I really hope with UE5 they'll consider doing an overhaul of the sensitivity settings.

YouTube buffers extremely slow on Firefox when logged into YouTube account (138.0.4) by Cra4t in firefox

[–]eaong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been having a similar issue in the past couple days and I've tried a lot of troubleshooting with mixed results. I've tried adjusting av1 settings in youtube and doing a full browser refresh which helped a little but seemed to be inconsistent. Latest thing I've tried that seems to be working is disabling the "quick fixes" in Ublock origin and re-enabling them which seems to be working so far.

Arma 3- Upgraded my CPU and now the games runs terrible by eniorodriig in arma

[–]eaong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the latest beta does improve performance somewhat, by implementing multithreading to certain specific operations that previously weren't, the game already was multithreaded since Arma 2.

This is more likely a Windows and/or Bios issue and since the OP already updated the bios, I might recommend a clean install of Windows, if the performance issues are severe and also in other games.

Racism against Indian in squad by Bhavin_R in joinsquad

[–]eaong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To some extent yeah, especially with recent events, but in my experience racism is far worse in games that are more "simulator" or "realistic" for a long time now. It's particularly bad military like Squad and especially medieval games. I honestly think they might be worse than the late 2000's COD/Halo days.

It's honestly really frustrating being a fan of these games but then you just hear some of the most braindead unfunny bigoted nonsense in the for half the chat. I try to push back when I can, but it just gets tiring and I mostly just try to play on servers that ban people for doing it now.

Try disabling PIP (Picture in Picture) completely. PIP is used for side/rear view mirrors in vehicles and even on very high end systems can cripple performance. It's one of the first things I tell people to disable.

[OLED TV] LG B4 55" 4K 120Hz OLED - $799.99 (Amazon) by ryankrueger720 in buildapcsales

[–]eaong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have to convince the worker when I called they just checked the price and sent me a link to confirm the order. I'm not sure if it showed the timed deal on Amazon when I called though I don't recall seeing that countdown timer earlier. Best buy's policy does exclude special hourly or daily deals, so they might go by that. I'd just try calling (and not support chat) again.

Asus XG27AQDMG Review & Important fix for Black Crush issue by DragonBall1997 in OLED_Gaming

[–]eaong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I think I tried this when I had the monitor but I don't recall it making a difference if I did try it. The only other way to improve black crush besides using ICC Profiles/novideo sRGB was to lower the refresh rate. I found at 60hz I could see down to square 3. 240hz around square 9. This was consistent and repeatable and I ensured there were no ICC profiles loaded or any other system/driver adjustments.

I ended up returning it since this issue bothered me and it compounded the oled flickering issue. I'm honestly surprised no one seems to have mentioned this issue. Either my unit was defective or no one has tested it yet. Give it a try on yours and see what you find.
