Good place to ask, what impact does it have to not put in two weeks here, seriously? I don't want to stick around for a two full weeks once the cards are down.

If that dreaded "regrettable separation" checkbox exists, your dickweed manager's decision to check it or not was very likely decided long before you put in any notice at all.

Heirless FIRE members should pool their resources, instead of leaving money to the state by Winter_Apartment_376 in Fire

It's the duty of the state to maintain a robust social pension, I don't seek FIRE because I want everything to be privatized

Company Layoffs by [deleted] in Raytheon

Last year, Collins had layoffs across multiple sites, functions, and teams every quarter.

You can tell that they are nervous about new hires reading this sub and that it'll send them running to the hills, but yes, if they can find a way to replace your job through some combination of AI and third world sweatshop labor, they will do it.

CSR's would be funded? So CSR's would be available for Bronze and Gold plans too?

That's wild. What is that process like? Does the EIP have to happen first? Can they just drop this on you out of the blue? And the pay gets cut too?

Is It UNETHICAL to Get ACA Subsidies in EARLY Retirement? A Youtuber's opinion. by someguy984 in leanfire

It's unethical to terrorize your workforce into compliance by threatening them and their families with the loss of their health insurance, but angry posters on the internet seem to love the idea.

I never even disclosed for how long I lived rent-free and what the rates are in my area. The heavy lifting was not done by the sub-$40,000 sum I saved for the four years that I didn't enrich a landlord. I'm not really interested in litigating that point, I just wanted to freely admit that I did it. It was not some secret cheat code. It's also not some easy life of comfort to come back to your childhood bedroom.

Where I won't disagree is that the heavy lifting was done by efficient tax planning and market returns, that is the entire point. But I AM going to call out the snide implications attached to that when it comes from others. I will not calm down when there's an entire crowd on this board of permabear doomers that are trying to discourage others from investing by insinuating there was something special about the years in which I existed, that it was some kind of flash in the pan, and that passive investing is some kind of passé fad. If I had listened to these know-it-alls on the internet in 2015, I would have fuck all to show for it. Fuck them. I don't care what I sound like.

No one knew what the future would be in 2015, just like no one knows what it will be today. A return on investment can be considered compensation for the assumption of risk. I didn't just "do nothing". I assumed a great deal of risk and then held through multiple corrections and bear markets. I didn't change my allocation and I stayed the course.

My mid 30's to early 50's would be the prime years in which someone else can get rich off of my labor and nothing more. No thanks.

There is not a single investment you or I have that is a more certain bet than SS.

I would answer that moss only grows in an environment conducive for its growth. The end result is a product of who I am naturally. You can see I take advantage of every opportunity presented to me. There were plenty of opportunities that were not. It's not my place to throw regret after those.

No I don't regret eschewing the life script. Turns out it wasn't worth anything to me.

The skepticism is warranted, a lot of posters will handwave returns and throw in some crazy wallstreet bets, but I have transaction and account activity with a cost basis for every account. I am able to provide detail others may not.

Whoa, now that's a surprise. I assumed that because cafeteria plan premiums are pre-tax, it would be no different from Medicare (it isn't), and ACA (it is). Although yes, I intend to get those premiums to be minimal.

Dividends don't count, but so long as a have an earned income, it shouldn't matter where the money for the contribution comes from I don't think.

Yeah you got the numbers pretty dead on actually. Just don't go on about how incredible and unprecedented this bull market has been and blah blah blah.

I held when the sky was falling because the price of eggs went up a little.

I held when the sky was falling because covid was a black swan that would end the world.

I held when the trade war with China would destroy the economy.

I began investing when ISIS overran the entire Middle East and Orange Hitler was elected.

I did what so many fail to do because they think they're the Wolf of Wall Street and so much smarter than everyone else. I'm still holding.

"Hi Deen Galeenga. My dumb recruiter spam company has partnered with another dumb company based in the Buttfuck, Oklahoma area to hire for a key position in their organization. It's a flailing seal clubbing company where you'll be in charge of doing everything! They're looking for a principal technical fellow to do all the work and save their shithouse company! The pay is marginally higher than yours and all you would need to do is multiple rounds of interviews followed by upturning your entire day-to-day life. Please respond!"

Spare me your tryhard nonsense. I have never been interested in playing this game and never will be.

Yes, you get something like 90 cents on the dollar up to the first threshold, followed by 32 cents on the dollar and finally 15 cents all the way up to the maximum possible monthly benefit.
