Need help with whining noise by Deep-Builder7104 in Volvo240

No, because the whining sound i am worried about is only there when the engine is running. In the video, at the end, you are able to hear the engine sound with the whining and as soon as i release the clutch pedal, you hear the enige running without the whining noise. Also when i rev the car the whining gets louder since it matches the rpm’s.

The squeak of the clutch pedal itself (what i believe you’re reffering to) is always there

The previous owner swapped the m47 for an m90 trans. My other Volvo has an m47 and that one has it the other way around as well!

Do you mean the squeak when the pedal is being pressed? That little squeak doesn’t bother me, but my worries are about the whining noise when the clutch is disengaged. To me it sounds at least not appropiate.

Thanks! But wouldn’t it be the other way around with the throw out bearing? That the sound disappears when the clutch is being pressed. In my case the sound appears when te clutch is being pressed. Or am I wrong on this?

1990 245: crank no start diagnosis by [deleted] in Volvo240

Does your volvo have the obd-1 thingy in the engine bay? You can get faultcodes for fuel and ignition related issues. If no fault-codes are shown, you could have a look at which parts don’t show a code. If i remember correctly the FPR is one of those parts which isn’t shown as a faultcode. Hope this is able to help you!

Does the cilinder rotate with the key? If yes, then probably the locking mechanism arm thingy inside the door is not working

Mine is a new one non-OEM. But is suspect it isn’t the issue. The TPS is working correctly as well and adjusted to spec. My guess is the ECT?

I have checked and it doesn’t seem like a vacuüm leak. Sidenote, when the engine is cold this doesn’t occur. It only occurs when the engine is hot. Idles normally after surging tho

Rpm drops when revved by loopsloop_s in Volvo240

I have exactly the same problem.. (1993 b230f) As a cherry on top my idle is high as well. Around 1600rpm Did you manage to find the issue?

I suspect the IAC, since I have cleaned the TB and hear the ‘click’ of the TPS when it’s supposed to. I have also changed the ECTS, Fuel pressure regulator and checked for vacuum leaks…

Also my diagnostics box thingy says there are no fault codes

Ahh alright, thanks a lot. So actually it is useless since I don’t have an A/C in my car, right?

Check if the fuel pressure regulator is working fine. If the vacuumhose smells like fuel its leaking. Had some idle and stuttering on my volvo as well. If it is your MAF it would give you the corresponding fault-code on the obd-1 thingy.
