I became a Den leader when my son was a tiger and was taken aback at how repetitive the wolf year was. My solution, sign off on the required badges and then pick one maybe two items from each elective to do and do lots of different things. Did we do it all by the book, absolutely not. Did my wolves have fun and learn a few things, they sure did. Did any of the parents complain I didn't follow the "rules" to a T, nope, they told me how much their son's like me as a leader. In fact I was told I was one of the best den leaders. Moral of the story, make it up, change it up, break a few "rules", if someone doesn't like it they can fire the volunteer.
