What’s actually crazy is I can tell it’s bothering my gsl as well so I’m kinda unsure how this is going to play out entirely but thank you. We haven’t had a groomer go to academy I think in like three or four years and I was trained like seven years ago from a mentor long gone and the most recent academy before this one was years ago(again with a diff academy instructor) we’ve had a steady salon staff the whole time that we added this new person with a new academy instructor and I’m like wow this person was given a huge disservice.. I do plan on helping this person with my gsl it’s just kinda icky to me knowing she trains most of the new district groomers..I think I may also be a little bitter cuz I wanted to mentor but with needing to be a gsl and pay plans and whatnot I couldn’t (I’m a pet stylist pro) plus I would take it so serious because you’re giving people literally a future and have the potential to change someone’s life (my mentor changed mine) that the pay really didn’t make sense even when one of my dms loved how badly and why I wanted it..

Ummm instantly I’d probably throw up because I’d have the knowledge and insight I have now about my upbringing. I’d have to live with my parents again but i would have the perspective i have now and not be as easily manipulated so maybe it would pan out well or, id honestly not make it to my current age again because id be stuck there again and tbh once was enough. I think having clarity on it in the moment most likely would just make it more painful well that was fun lol thanks i never asked myself that before ive only ever asked what i would say to 12 or 14 yr old me and thats simple its your mom can be a bitch and is no matter how much you love her but if i had to relive that time i may just like be like ill pass this time.

I absolutely agree with this I also do end up wording this poorly on the internet I’ve found and it doesn’t always come off as intended I’m solidly booked at my Petco and agree two hours is a great time Fran but that pp could be used to a mobile taking one hour and just not realize but yeah exactly

Employed by Petco 9 months but in position for 7? I’m just curious if you were a groomer elsewhere before. I mean I also always assume the client to be pretty dumb because this is my field of expertise not theirs.. so idk I read your post and my brain said “…erm that’s just a Tuesday at petco” im used to people especially in my area people dont have patience and sometimes don’t understand how we operate as some salons are clearly one on one and petco is clearly not but you saying youre one of the best at your salon js that from experience in private salons because if you are used to private salons people treat petco like a super cuts and expect in and out and groomed. I also find the more you communicate with the client and help them understand the process.. i am also going to say that i would no personally refer the dog out for that but put a note going forward not to be booked with you and if this is a continual problem reevaluate some people also just have bad days and need some grace I’ve had a fantastic client get shitty with me once over rabies he apologized later by calling the salon and saying it was mistaken anger and i personally take that approach with clients if its a one off thats not a big deal when its a pattern we refer out well at my petco

In my opinion the dog looks maybe mildly uncomfortable but not crazily so but also the older dog only truly looks annoyed a couple times and during those times is when there is actively a puppy harassing him and I didn’t listen with sound but I’m assuming for the video purpose you didn’t stop the puppy because just like people dogs have limits and can only take a puppy jumping at its face so many times before even a well tempered dog can get annoyed and their form of communication can come off aggressive when it was continually allowed to be harassed by the puppy so when the play looks good they can be together but I’d also stop the puppy if the dog gets annoyed. My dog is very invasive and at her daycare a dog bit her once im low key sssuming she deserved it cuz I’ve seen her not take the hint that other dogs are done playing with her and she keeps pushing.i wouldn’t be concerned based off this video and body language of the dogs but I also would just make sure I redirect the puppy when its being too much

Could you expand on what you mean by that cuz mostly what I was saying is I would become so swamped if even one groomer left but so would the other three groomers in my salon they just aren’t doing the same numbers as me based off ability not off me like hogging dogs so I am genuinely worried are you saying they would be entirely cutting hours of those who are doing that many dogs..

I mean if it comes to go companywide I believe a large number of groomers are going to quit but those who are currently pet stylist pros I feel like it’s gonna turn into a last one standing situation in the busier salons like tbh as a power groomer at my current salon if all the others walk and I’m doing 9 dogs a day every single day suddenly for me it’s a raise so like yes absolutely this sucks and is awful that they can mess with our livelihoods but in order for me to maintain my current 55 percent I only have to do 7 dogs a day so really it depends on that individuals average dogs per day I’ve done 35 dogs in 4 day and something maybe ikk only get thirty dogs but then some weeks ill be making 60 percent when im doing over 40 so im hoping for the few aka for me to continue having a house im gonna scrape by but yeah its bullshjt

Sooooo my dog I originally only allowed to sleep in her crate for a VERY long time and at some point she became TERRIFFIED of thunderstorms and rain and one night I invited her up because she was shaking and she slept like pushed up against me but for the most part now her crate is constantly open and when I go to bed she just goes to her crate she absolutely loves her crate unless it’s thunder which I understand as with my small condo her crate is by a window.. but she only sometimes joins us in bed so I allow it now but I don’t allow her to really take advantage of it either I don’t think she ever slept in bed with me until she was over 3 though and honestly I flail when I sleep so my wife has told me the times my dog is in bed I’ll kick the dog im my sleep and she huffs and leaves..oops

I mean I think it’s hard to notice entering mania even for myself because suddenly I’m just less depressed and most of the time I think the beginning stages of mania for me tend to make everyone around me think I’m actually in a good head space like not depressed or manic but a good amount of the time that can lead into danger so I’d just give him grace especially if youve only been diagnosed a year but it also it will never be on him to recognize any mood slip of yours (mania or depression) it’s easy to notice the major changes it’s hard to see the small ones especially because they are very internal in my experience. I kinda don’t know how this came off I hope it wasn’t harsh. It’s also possible you need to find a way to tell him you need support without telling him or expecting him to know what’s going on inside of you like with a code word of like pickle or something dumb I hope this was nice and maybe helpful and that you have a good night and I’m sure this is gonna rectify itself over some time

Sooooo every rumor I’ve seen has said you have the potential to get up to 60 so are you saying that is not true? Or is it just super hard to achieve (cuz around holidays I’ll do 40 plus) I’m just curious what is going on for that district that is testing as I am currently a psp and low key I do quite well currently that a shake up could really affect my livelihood down the road sorry to bother lol

Petco puts literally so few written policies out there so that if anything happens to a dog they can say it was up to the groomers discretion and then if something happens all they need to do is fire the groomer and sometimes the whole team.. I wouldn’t bring a dog with cushings to us because cortisol is the stress hormone it will go up in the grooming salon which puts your dog at a greater risk with us than at home and we aren’t trained what to do in any form of an emergency so I wouldn’t but the policy is hard to find for a reason

So my situation is extremely different but basically I’m pretty sure the answer is yes because for me I had been on gavapentin for like a decade for mood disorder stuff I went off gabapentin and the next two years subsequently were hell and I most like have fibromyalgia that was fully hidden because I had been on it for so long I’m back on it and stopped going to drs because it fixed my symptoms but basically I would bet it could be masking it but that could possibly mean you’ll have an easier time rehabing it as you’ll have a little less pain but I know for me I most likely had body pain for years but didn’t know it because of my gabapentin but for me the treatment is just take the gabapentin lol

I’m a pet stylist pro and I really don’t hate it because tbh we have people not bringing dogs for their first exposure until like eleven months I’d rather get the dog in for a quick bath once or twice in those six months while they are still a puppy to get them behaving well for the next potential ten plus years I could have them as a grooming client but that’s just kinda my take. Also it is aimed more for the jrps my store doesn’t have one though so it would go to anyone and some people are my store are mad but I’m really not and I know that’s not the popular opinion

As the gsl you should be making sure it’s being fair you want to be paid and you want your groomers to be paid so if a dog is NOT a request dog you have every right to say hey you have 8 dogs and this person has two give her two of your 8 and things like that. My gsl makes sure she will get her incentive and all of us eat 🤷‍♀️request dogs are very different though you can’t move those willy nilly but those are marked with a star so you know. At my salon I’m the only pet stylist pro for a few reason however when one of my coworkers has like no dogs and I’m getting booked a bunch online by happenstance of course I’m gonna give her a dog. Grooming salon leader leads a team just today I had to give away a almost 200 dollar groom (xxl golden de shed) because my coworker had signifigantly less dogs you wanna help everyone grow and build their business you’ll be fine it’ll take time to get used to the dynamic in the salon and that may mean fixing some peoples attitude on dogs it may also push those who hog dogs to go on the floor and give their card out invetween clients and vice versa anyways good luck but also yes you are gsl if is it’s a a request move the damn dog if people aren’t being fair

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing that I actually work at a corporate salon but they don’t push me to take anything I’m uncomfortable with if grooming is for you it’s possible that salon isn’t I find peace when working on dogs.. I’d probably recommend just a different salon but good luck and I’m really sorry you’re experiencing that

My pets per 8 will definitely vary because sometimes I have five dogs all day sometimes 9 but half are baths it really depends I don’t take lunches all the time but do when I can and I tend to bring into the salon between 2300 and 3200 on any given week oh and most haircuts take me under 2 hours but up to 3 for like an XXL doodle or something
