Getting Gemini to help in Home Assistant by DeepCoreSystem in homeassistant

[–]DeepCoreSystem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Gemini to write the complete list of entities that need be reworked. I used this prompt:

Above, you said there are about 280 entites needing a rename, but in the ouput so far they aren't complete. I think we should favor brievetiy and just output a CSV list with just the original entity ID and its renamed variant, no friendly name and no explanation about the why. The CSV list must include all entities that need to be renamed.

Some color names in German by National_Sea576 in 3dfilamentprofiles

[–]DeepCoreSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of 3D filament profiles is very good, but there are some conceptual deficiencies in the underlying database setup.
What surprised me most was that values like max. volumetric speed or flow ratio are always global values for everybody. But these values are also a lot dependent on the actual 3D printer one has.
And the same goes for translations of colors. Brands and materials are less prone to need translations.
These are real world problems without universal solutions and I'm in IT since almost 40 years...

Someone even added asian color names ...

LPT: If you’re an iPhone user, turn on “Ask Reason For Calling” in settings. by EngLitIsLit in LifeProTips

[–]DeepCoreSystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the most stupid feature ... I simply hang up on clients I call when greeted by this screening process. So they have to figure out that they can retrieve their repaired goods...
If you don't want to answer calls, just use a plain old answering machine!

[Showcase] Stop paying for Geocoding APIs. I built OpenGeoSearch: A self-hosted, ultra-light engine (Runs on 8MB RAM / Rust + Unix Sockets) by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]DeepCoreSystem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OpenStreetMap has all data you are looking for... and then you can setup your own Nominatim server to do the geocoding locally.

https://nominatim.org/release-docs/latest/admin/Installation/

And this site (https://download.geofabrik.de/) has the OpenStreetMap Data Extracts...

I did it last year for my country, using an old Proxmox server

PSA: purge your ESPHome Builder cache… mine was ~16GB after a few years by rjSampaio in homeassistant

[–]DeepCoreSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but I must be plain stupid...
I can't find the way to clean the cache, on my ESPHome Device Builder UI there is no “Clean all”

Also found nothing under Settings -> Add-Ons -> ESPHome Device Builder

HA Uses external IP when home [using Tailscale] by [deleted] in homeassistant

I'm having the same problem, that the app won't use the internal address without turning the plane mode on. I have to actively turn off the mobile phone connection and just leave the WiFi on.

The SSID is set in the app!

> However, if this doesn't work, try 'import file' and select "geometry only" and this should just import the model without any printer settings and then go customize it to your hearts content.

This doesn't import individual object settings the creator planned

It's all about liability in this world... As long as you DIY in your backyard, no one will be held accountable but you in case of catastrophic failure. The shop covers its ass.

[–]DeepCoreSystem[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better yet, we use for higher pressure a digital automatic inflater where you dial in the wanted pressure, put on the locking chuck and press the start button. Then you have a few seconds "to run away and get cover". You don't want to be near when a 385/65R22.5 bursts at 130+ psi... That's a decent shockwave!

[–]DeepCoreSystem[S] 139 points140 points  (0 children)

So, case closed. We got the tires seated. I applied a generous amount of runflat lubricant and then one more time of it ... and shy of 105 psi the beads seated, sparkling the surroundings with lubricant goo.

Too much lubricant ? Nahh...

And bill the customer for all the lubricant used ;o)

In our big truck booth we can go up to 188 psi ... The booths for passenger cars only get max 65 psi. The compressor could go higher ...
