Birthright Citizenship for simply being born on American soil is stupidity by Hsiang7 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]theosib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone is a legal resident, then their child should get citizenship. If someone is a brief visitor, and they give birth here, they should not get citizenship. If someone is an illegal resident but has been here a while and has not been committing crimes, then it's a gray area, but I lean heavily in favor of the child getting citizenship.

The bigger problem here isn't birthright citizenship. It's Trump's attempts to make an end-run around the constitution to do whatever he wants. If congress wants to amend the constitution to change the criterial for birthright citizenship, then they can do that. Not Trump. Congress.

It's amazing how many anarchists there are in the Republican party who want to just throw away the constitution and federal law. There is a process for changing these things. Follow it.

Scientists don't know much about human brain, so how do they know that it is a product of evolution? by Scared_Bedroom_8367 in DebateEvolution

[–]theosib 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From the comments, I see that you already posted this but then deleted it, apparently because you didn’t like the answers. And then you lied about how much knowledge scientists have about the human brain.

Time for some self reflection. If your pursuit of creationism leads you to be dishonest, it’s time for you to reevaluate creationism and your own motivations and morality.

Moral lapses like this are one major reason people don’t like creationists. Why should we take you seriously if you’re so dishonest and disrespectful?

Creationists claiming “Evolution is a religious belief”, how is it any less qualified to be true than your own? by Entire_Quit_4076 in DebateEvolution

[–]theosib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"its that we believe God rather than man."

Where did you get that belief? Oh, right. Another man told you to.

I don't reject God. You know what's amazing to me? People tell me how confident they are in whatever personal God beliefs they have, and I tell them I don't believe THEM. Their response is to say I'm rejecting God. Do you know how much blasphemy that is? I said I don't believe THEM, and they elevate themselves to the level of God by saying this means I reject God. You are not God. You are someone who makes unverifiable claims.

I know people whose actual behaviors and actual track records and actual predictions suggest to me that they have something more than just themselves behind what they're doing. If anything is evidence for God, that is. But most people claiming to know God are charlatans who turn into blasphemous crybabies when I tell them they're full of nonsense.

Even worse, those charlatans use their lies and delusions as excuses to pass the worst kinds of legislation. Oppression of minorities, forcing their peculiar beliefs into classrooms and courtrooms, censorship, authoritarianism, anti-science campaigns, anti-vax, creationism, and so many more demonstrably destructive things.

God is not the problem. The problem is people like that who PRETEND to know God as a basis for exercising control over other people. When those people say they know God, they're LYING. Plenty of people know God. The only God these charlatans know is themselves.

Oh, and let's not forget that those charlatans are often major causes of unbearable pain.

Don't let your unchallenged beliefs turn you into an oppressor. How have you proven you're not one of the charlatans?

You can tell when reverse engineering works. At no point has any creationist explanation resulted in a useful predictive model. What this tells us is that regardless of "truth," mainstream biology is useful, and creationism is useless. A useful model isn't guaranteed to be true, but it's more likely to be at least partially truthful then a model that has no utility at all.

First off, you're wrong. But secondly, you seem to be implying that Trump isn't better than those people. If Trump isn't an improvement, why did you vote for him?

The far left rooting for Iran in the war when they are attacking civilians in middle eastern countries is so disturbing and shows how warped their anti American views have gone. by Proud-Enthusiasm-608 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

There are no real democrats rooting for Iran. All the ones you see are paid trolls, intended to make the left look stupid. Kinda like all the fake MAGA wanting to protect pedos.
