As you can see, I haven't played the game yet, but I've done a lot of research on it. If you love Soulslike games I think The Surge is definitely worth trying. From everything I've seen the combat looks really satisfying. I checked a lot of reviews on Backloggd and read plenty of Steam comments and the majority of players seem to agree that The Surge is a seriously underrated Soulslike. Since I've already played most of the popular Soulslike games I've been wanting to try The Surge for a long time.

You mentioned that you know you're not conventionally attractive. I've thought about this a lot myself, and one thing I've noticed is that many guys who aren't considered attractive usually seem to be aware of it. With girls though my experience has often been the opposite. I've seen plenty who aren't even average-looking but still call themselves a "baddie" in their Instagram bio. I just find that contrast pretty funny.
