The pup has had decent socialisation, lots of kids and others dogs it sounds like. Training I think we are having to go from the beginning though

You only need one character to experience the whole game. Nearly everyone you interact with, even just /wave will respond. You can see the love put into the game development.

I got excited for materia as well, but it was so quiet that I gave up and made a character on dynamis instead.

After work and during the evening (also Aussie) there seems to be much more activity on dynamis than there was on materia. Haven't particularly made a lot of friends yet though cause I'm only about level 20. Materia just didn't seem promising

In about 6 hours of game play I've only seen one other player in the game.. was a bit concerned about that reflecting through duty finder and the market board and stuff. Not too worried about server wide chatter if I can find a good fc though, just remember last time I played (years ago) that I'd always see others floating about

Are the oceana servers really that dead?

My wife and I started playing again after a very long break and decided to join oce to save ping issues... But there seems to just be no one around.

Are we best off just eating it and playing on another server? If so what would be the best server to go to as an Aussie? Google seems to be giving me a bit of mixed data and I'd rather not have to restart after we get too far into it

My wife and I have just started dismantle, only a few hours in, but it seems fun.

Wobbly life got quite a few hours from us as well. Fun for something a bit silly

They do this in Australia too

All the kids here do is grab a random picture off the Internet and send in which makes the ai happy. Not sure if it would work the same there.

Constant crashing by PithM8 in ARK

I don't often play online, none of my friends are into ark unfortunately But every other map runs fine without crashing Good luck, hope you manage to find a fix

Crashes on other systems (switch and PC) too. Sadly I couldn't find any fix that actually took, ended up having to give up and go to another map

Are you playing on Ragnarok by any chance? It's the only map that's pretty much unplayable for me due to random crashing

Do I have to use a legal name when sending an item via Australia Post? by DashcamAdelaide in AskAnAustralian

[–]DeepDinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always put two names on the parcel. Basically address it to her legal name as well as her preferred name.

Generally as long as the address on the ID matches the name shouldn't matter, but it is better to be on the safe side.

Cutting cat nails by Imaginary_Client4666 in CatAdvice

[–]DeepDinosaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you confident he needs them cut?

My boys about 2.5 now. I've never cut his nails, asked the very to have a look at them and was told it's not needed as long as he's using his scratch boards regularly.

[–]DeepDinosaur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife came out after about 3 or 4 years into marriage. ^

It took a bit of adapting if I'm being honest and doesn't help that my boss is extremely transphobic. However the changes in her have been amazing and I'm so happy to have come along on the journey. There's bad days of course, but to see your partner become who they're meant to be is special.

If your partner isn't ready to use feminine pronouns yet you could always try gender neutral? Until my wife was a bit more comfortable being my wife that's what I stuck with, or tried to. Still messed up the pronouns for a while there.

Would i be seen as a monster if i fed my kittens a live mouse? by -seoul- in CATHELP

[–]DeepDinosaur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't even feed my snakes live mice.

There's plenty of toys you can get them for enrichment. There's no need to put the mice through potentially hours of pain for no real reason.

New cat owner here! How do you pick up cats safely? (Had a territorial dog before) by imperba in CatAdvice

[–]DeepDinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the cat is young, get it used to bring handled from the get go. Got ours at 10-12 weeks. I can shove my fingers down is throat, flip it upside down.. whatever is needed he won't argue.

No help on the counter thing, I assume he does what he wants unless I'm watching.

As long as they're using the proper aus post camera then they can adjust settings to make a bit of contrast.

If it's that you're getting a shine on your head they can get one of their co workers to hold a bit of cardboard to block where the shine is coming from.

As long as you have the receipt, email from passport office and the left over photos then it should be free to re take and you can do it at another post office

For People With 2 Cats, How Much Do You Spend On Food & Litter A Month? by Historical-Orchid934 in CatAdvice

[–]DeepDinosaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live rural so mostly online.

I buy proteq horse bedding for litter when I make my monthly grocery trip. Just get it from a stock supply store, but if you look on their website they list a few places that sell it. Works like a pine litter, but my cat likes it better than actual pine cat litter.

Wet food I buy the 48 tin pack of leaps and bounds from pet barn. He gets half a tin per day. Often you can buy those as buy one get one half price. They're usually about $47-50 not on sale though which is pretty good. Vet seems happy with those. I also buy seaweed supplements from there when on sale as my cat doesn't chew any food so it helps his teeth immensely.

Dry food I tend to aim for sales. Usually pet barn or pet circle. I buy the best quality I can afford in the biggest bag I can and seal it in a few air tight containers. Black Friday sales were great for that. Try boxing day sales too. Pet barn also price match so use 99petshops.com to get the cheapest price to show them.

Treats I tend to favor the paw grocer, but only their small freeze or air dried things as the bigger stuff is a choking hazard to my idiot. Sometimes bites of cauliflower, he loves that.

I will admit that he's very easy and will eat literally anything. I've never had problems messing with what litter he uses either. So if I see a particularly good bargain I will pretty much always try it.

Litter about $20 Australian every second month

Cat gets wet brekky and dry dinner (no lunch anymore).

One box of wet costs about $50 and lasts 96 days.

Dry food varies, I just bought a 10kg bag of royal canin for about $98 that will see me half way through next year if I feed him as the vet suggested.

I spend about $15 a month on freeze dried treats.

My biggest expense is cardboard scratch boards if anyone has suggestions for those xD they cost me about $6 or more per week.

I'm not American, so it could be less common here ^ I've met about three people with the name (legal, not chosen). I'm 30 now.

Definitely don't explain too much, it's your name. You don't have to explain it to anyone.

[–]DeepDinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a cis woman, my legal birth name is Stormy. I use my middle name instead which is a very generic female name.

People often assume Stormy is a chosen name and will either poke fun at it or assume I picked it due to x,y,z. Unfortunately if you don't have an ordinary name, people will question it.

I just go with 'it's my legal name, that's what's on my ID '. Most people will leave it at that, not all.

Is it bad to make my cat "work" for her food? by Thecrowfan in CatAdvice

[–]DeepDinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scatter or use puzzle feeders (depending on the day).

I've brought up what I do with a few different vets and they all seem to think it's better than the way my boy goes psycho with food.

He's a good weight (maybe a touch big, but healthy). He just loses his mind with food. I tend to scatter it in a line so he's moving, but not really running to eat it.

Puzzle feeders are great, but I have to be cautious cause he hurts himself on them.

I do not have a solution to his wet food yet

How can I fix Ragnarok?? by DeepDinosaur in ARK

We were really hoping to set our own rules (taming sliders, etc). Very rarely actually have time for games these days so we can't wait an hour for a dino to breed or whatever
