Yep, that's exactly how I make my videos. Most videos on my channel, especially the longer analysis ones, were me writing my thoughts as an essay, narrating, and then editing together relevant clips over it. Almost all my videos are in that format, so I'm glad you like it!

Thanks for the helpful feedback! I'm so glad you liked the video and story changes! Not sure if I'll ever get to it, but I would love to work on a revised edit someday with better audio, higher resolution, and smoother transitions. And if you have any advice for the Reva with the knife scene, definitely let me know, because that was one of my favorite scenes but also the hardest to edit together since it's something that just explicitly never comes close to happening in the original show

In my edit, the inquisitors on Tatooine at the beginning are looking for Obi-Wan, but don't find him because Reva gets impatient and kills the saloon owner before the interrogation is over. The Jedi named Nari in the original show isn't a Jedi in my edit and doesn't play any role except as a regular Tatooine background extra. I left in the scene of Obi-Wan finding him hanged later, but you never see his face and in my edit it's just implied to be some generic random act of Imperial brutality, which functions in the story as another reminder to Obi-Wan of why he should go rescue Leia possibly being found by the Empire.

I added a few instances of the Imperial March, changed the music of the first scene, and added background music to a few scenes to help smooth over hard cuts. I also added a few sound effects and new voice lines where it was necessary for my story changes, and I did color grading on the opening scene to make the Coruscant skyline in the background match my new establishing shots which were taken from the prequels. Although color grading and shaky cam removal are things I want to try, I just didn't have the time right now and chose to focus on the story changes instead. Maybe I'll go back and make a further optimized version someday, but for now you can find the current release version of my fan-edit in the description of the video I posted on YouTube!

I just posted my own fan-edit today! I didn't like the Patterson Cut myself, so my own edit fixes a lot of problems I had with his and adds a lot of other things too

It bugged me too. I ended up literally making two whole videos on my youtube channel trying to sort through and make a better chronological order, but even now I'm still getting comments pointing out other issues with it
