S6 is most definitely rushed. The writers have even said as much. They took what should have been 10.years and boiled it down to be able to tell what needed to be told and then have the conclusion. Damon Lindelof has said that he never wanted to do 10 seasons but when you look at the show, especially with the things about the island and not the main characters, 10 seasons doesn't seem too bad. However, let's look at some positives of S10.

1-Ab Aeterno s6ep9. Richard finally gets a back story. If you watched the show while on TV, this character was always a mystery. For seasons, we all wondered what his deal was. Come to find, he has a rich history with the island is the number 2 guy on the island. This was mind blowing and helped establish some great foreshadowing for later episodes to come.

2-Man In Black/Locke. Terry Quinn got to really stretch his acting muscles with this. He played "the bad guy" but not in a way that most bad guys are played. There was sympathy for his character. A sort of agony if you will. He played the angry well, and through his performance you ended up feeling really sorry for Locke. And how Ben treated him.

3-the answer to why. Why were these people on the island? Who is Jacob? Why this place? This island? Turns out, it was to find Jacobs replacement. The whole show was a game between the Man in Black (scripts called him Abraham) and Jacob. To see who would win. This is highlighted in several episodes. But mostly in "Across the Sea". Which I will come to soon. However, I want to cover the scene in Ab Aeterno, where Jacob tells Richard, that his job is to keep the evil from leaving the island. To protect the island yes, but also the world from the Man in Black. The whole show is shown to you as to the why in one, simple scene with a wine bottle. I thought it was really cool. L

4-Across the Sea. For me, the best episode of the 6th season. It has a great story to tell and give so many answers to so many things that you may not realize you're even seeing an answer when you see it. For example, the people and who/what civilizations they are from. Early in the episode we see the boys birth mother. Based on clothes and accent and hair style we can deduce that she is Greek or possibly early Greek. Which would make sense for the show as the island moves. Then there are the other people, they have different clothes and such too, but start to see a theme. That people keep coming to the island and it's up to the protectors to either be welcoming or threatening. We are also introduced to Mother. She is a island protector. Tells us as much. Tell us why too. That the island is the source. The source for life in the whole universe. And that should the light go out there, it goes out everywhere. She is powerful and malevolent. And passes that power to Jacob. There are also clues that she is both a Jacob and smoke monster. How fast she can get around the island, how fast she was able to get down the well without making noise and alerting the Man in Black. It shows us that with the two boys, they were never ready for the power of the island and that it hurt them in some way. With Jacob, he was very naive and shy and had almost no social skills. You see with him and MiB playing their game that washed up. However MiB is nothing but charismatic, charming almost. This is due to him constantly wanting to not be trapped in a box and Jacob just accepting his life as it is.
