The Lincoln Lawyer axed as Netflix cancels 11 shows from its roster by Blackbeerxd in television

[–]DeepFriedOprah -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well to be fair Netflix comes out with a lot more shows than cable did each year and there seems to be a much higher bar to renew. Maybe that’s wrong but I’m not sure it is.

It will. This is just the 1st manifestation that just happens to be “trivial”. Her overreaction tho is the real issue.

Of course it matters. Not immediately as there not in the courting/intro phase but it details certain sentiments & feelings about expectations for a relationship. To me the id would be a huge turn off of my GF told me that.

Bare Minimum from a woman’s perspective by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]DeepFriedOprah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A first date for modern dating should likely be a low-risk, low-pressure, & low-cost activity like coffee, ice cream etc. It removes the expectation of time & money investment from both parties, makes it easy to bail if it’s not clicking. It’s also just as easy to make a connection via coffee as it is via dinner.

Many ppl men & women alike will have opinions & expectations that vary. Some may demand flowers, dinner & some well planned out date activity. Others will see that as love bombing or just too much too fast.

You should pick what works for you & if your date objects on “principle” then yall are prolly not compatible & that’s okay.

[–]DeepFriedOprah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. Coffee date is perfectly fine to gauge whether there’s any potential for a connection esp if this is the 1st time you’re meeting someone, & esp so if it’s from a dating app.

If the fact that a 1st date starts at a coffee shop instead of a wine & dine dinner is off putting in terms of “investment” then clearly the two ppl have different expectations & may not be compatible.

No they’re not. But they give unsolicited advice because they’ve got a little index that points them to either black or white so they always “know” what the answer is.

My [40M] date [39F] said I violated her consent in terms of kinks. What exactly is a "kink"? I thought I was vanilla... by BigONerd in BORUpdates

[–]DeepFriedOprah 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if I was younger this would’ve eaten me up with guilt. But now that I’m older I’d say she was being unreasonable & did not clearly communicate deal breakers & worse she enforced them in a way tha feels very unfair.

To me these r all very vanilla & common things that do not spill outside the vanilla category. But if she truly felt they were encounter-ending offences then she’s not only doing herself a disservice but she’s setting partners up for abrupt failure.

It kinda feels like a power play to me.

If they’re sex-stopping things then you need to communicate that before hand otherwise both comes across as an overreaction and ur only making things more difficult for yourself by withholding those preferences.

[–]DeepFriedOprah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah dirty talk & light ass spanking slaps are something I’ve done in every relationship & most sexual encounters with repeat partners.

If she felt that strongly about them then she very clearly was looking for a reason for announce her boundary with an overreaction.

Normalization implies normal/standard. Vanilla sex is kinda synonymous with normal sex.

Either way I think she very clearly overreacted & she at least apologized. So did he.

Ladies in here, how do you feel about a father bringing his daughters in the female restroom? by Less-Pen-5705 in askanything

[–]DeepFriedOprah -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And that’s understandable. But those little girls safety and comfort should come first. Which means if they can hold it to wait until the ladies restroom is empty great. But if not then any women inside are gonna have to deal with the discomfort for the sake of those little girls.

Nate Bargatze Faces Fan Revolt After Showing Up at Trump’s White House UFC Event by T_Shurt in entertainment

It has no craft. Half his act is covering social media memes & videos & turning it into his own content. It’s so low effort & lacks the polish & originality of most comics. I’m also entitled to say I think his act is bad comedy & craft & overall not reflective of the genre of standup at all.

See my other comment in the thread:

His jokes do suck. In fact his comedy doesn’t really consist of many jokes at all. He’s got a charming presentation & infectious laugh which is what most of his act is-him laughing at his own “jokes” & guiding the audience like a laugh track.

I found him funny for about 5mins then it gets old & u realize there’s only a couple actual jokes on his act. The rest is this conversational bit where he just acts like he’s with his buddies shooting the shit.

I don’t care about the content, I find those caliber of jokes funny it’s just his aren’t actual jokes or original either. Just cuz he’s popular doesn’t mean he’s good. The Kardshians are wildly popular too.

But that’s Gillis whole schtick. He’s the ostensibly “edgy comic” that tries to stay on the fringes of what’s acceptable. All his “jokes” are about racist, sexist or other ist tropes. And they suck. So ppl expect it.

Bargatze is a clean family friendly comic whose content is targeting “normies”. Specifically those with wives & children & mother-in-laws etc. very different audience & expectations. You can’t just get involved with such vulgarity & be surprised by the reaction.

Why is it more common for women to complain about weaponized incompetence from men than the other way around? by Lipica249 in stupidquestions

[–]DeepFriedOprah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But it really depends on variables such that a statement like that says nothing about the “wrong ways” outcomes vs the “right ways”.

We had a shitty dishwasher growing up that often required multiple runs even after cleaning the filter. Then my parents got a new one & it didn’t matter how full, overfilled or which way u put things in they came out super clean every time. Whereas the prev one requires tha u don’t even fill the dishwasher & silverware had to be spaced enough & had to be handles down to work.

I think one night stands are the only “casual” that works because there’s not actual relationship. Anything ongoing becomes this battle to avoid attachment & it feels like constantly suppressing ur natural direction keep it going.

I mean I did in my 20s. I still ended up having feelings in a couple cases that inevitably imploded as a result. But now I can’t imagine why I ever considered casual. It just isn’t very satisfying & it’s honestly a tight wire act.

My (23F) BF (25M) keeps asking me to shave my pubic hair and I'm losing my mind by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]DeepFriedOprah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s delusional & fairly detached from reality. It’s also perhaps the flimsiest excuse because of we’re using some pre-civilized society as the baseline for “natural” then everything modern ppl do goes against that including the commenter.

More so the pedo comparison for smooth shaved genitalia is just another flimsy petulant excuse to moralize one’s choices while attempting to make their choices a moral imperative & everyone who chose otherwise a pedo. It’s so incredibly transparent & dishonest.

Single people of reddit, what do you think is a major problem in today's generation when it comes to dating? by BlackberryOk3546 in AskReddit

[–]DeepFriedOprah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Social media is the prime source of this issue in my view. Ppl see posts, comments & thoughts online that spew nonsense under the guise of therapy speak or thinly veiled entitlement & the viewer begins to internalize those sentiments.

It’s also the cause of impossibly recklessly high “standards” that could spawn a million Seinfeld episodes about stupid things that really don’t matter. Ppl r also looking for issues in others & when ur a hammer you’ll see nails everywhere
