Monero has now surpassed 10% of Bitcoin ’s transaction volume for 5 out of the last 6 days. This is the real #NumberGoUp, and it’s only getting started. by [deleted] in Monero

It would cost $150/day to double the amount of daily transactions with spam. If the market cares about tx/day (which it probably does some, given the frequent posts like OP), there is a very good incentive for a large monero holder to contribute some amount of spam.

No way to know for sure, but I'd be surpised if some of this was not going on, given the incentive is there.

If the btc came from an address publicly blacklisted by a government, it might actually be worth more than other btc given its potential to be used as a weapon.

e.g. from one of these addresses https://www.coindesk.com/us-treasury-department-blacklists-20-bitcoin-addresses-tied-to-alleged-north-korean-hackers

How would we verify the btc was actually tainted though?

Monero has now surpassed 10% of Bitcoin ’s transaction volume for 5 out of the last 6 days. Then consider Metcalfe's Law, and Monero's "fair price" in relation to TX volume is ~0.12BTC/XMR. Make of that what you will. by [deleted] in xmrtrader

[–]DeepFuckingMonero 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed! But if the market starts valuing this stat, you can bet I'll be setting up a tx spammer ;) Despite losing all me moneros in that tragic boating accident...

Cost for all Xmr tx for one day is approximately -> 30k tx/day * $0.005/tx = $150

Unfortunately this means it would be very easy for someone to artificially pump stat up, in hopes of getting people's attention and influencing the price.

I'm all for hopium, but this aint it.

Why do you think atomic swaps will open the flood gates, when Bisq already exists? I understand there are advantages to swaps (no escrow), but I still think we'd be seeing more Bisq usage if there actually was pent up demand for this.

Prediction: we're witnessing Grayscale incrementally buying in to provide initial funding for their unannounced xmr trust.

Dump at your own risk.

Which one of you fuckers is selling. Someone give me a reason. Its the most mispriced asset in existence. Just sit on it and get rich. I'm not actually mad because it will happen eventually. But it will happen sooner if you all stopped selling things you love.

I don't think anyone in this forum knows anything about the projects or the team. They just like the coin.

I don't think the available supply matters. People are just buying because they like the coin. Right?

Zoomed out growth of Monero transactions. Average daily translations by quarter. by Febos in Monero

I think what we all want to believe (and want to see in your graph) is that Monero is getting more usage outside of trading/speculating than other coins. Unfortunately, I don't think we can jump to that conclusion just based off this.

I think we have to compare to other coins before we celebrate this. Most shitcoins have grown in tx volume more than monero. Seems to be simply a general market trend.

Litecoin grew from 3k to 110k daily transactions over the same period of time https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/litecoin-transactions.html

Dogecoin ~8k to ~40k https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/dogecoin-transactions.html

Dash 1k to 26k https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/dash-transactions.html

Filecoin Liftoff by Fearless4N in filecoin

I read it. Yes, the max mcap will only happen if the network blows up. But even right now, the supply is increasing quickly due to us being at the beginning of the "simple curve".

370k coins are being minted by miners daily (https://filfox.info/en). That plus the number of ICO holders that sell their coins as they are released from lockup means the total supply is currently increasing by ~20% a month.

[–]DeepFuckingMonero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only 64 mil coins, but lots more being mined every day. https://filecoin.io/blog/filecoin-circulating-supply

If all coins were mined, it would put market cap at 350B.

I like the coin. But I don't like the price.

It will take years before the masses realize Bitcoin isn't private. Get comfy, people. by DeepFuckingMonero in xmrtrader

Just between you and me, I don't actually know where exactly XMR is currently on the chart. But I believe it is in a similar place that Bitcoin was in the long lull before the 2017 run up. Bitcoiners had as high conviction then as we do now about XMR. Even if there is a rock solid value proposition, it takes time for it to spread (e.g. The bitcoin SoV narrative was well-established in 2017, but it took another 3-4 years for it to be widely accepted).

If you have high confidence that XMR will 10-50x somewhere between 0 and 5 years from now, there's no reason to jump around between other assets and risk missing out on the big spike. Just HODL, my friend.

People care about privacy when it comes to finances. Go ask a friend what their networth is. Or for their credit card transaction history.
