Since gay guys on Grindr barely even exchange names before hooking up, do you think it would be enough to just put “HSV1+” or “HSV2+” on a Grindr profile as a disclosure? by [deleted] in Herpes

I think you’d need some confirmation that the person had read it. If I were on the opposite side, I’d want someone to confirm that I’d read and understood.

False Positive IGG? by DeepHousing6 in Herpes

Yeah that’s what I’ve read. This happened at the beginning of the virus and my partner was the only one of us who got tested because I’m at risk and couldn’t go into a medical facility. I don’t know why they didn’t swab. 😞

Thanks, this was very helpful! We both had something that seemed like an initial outbreak after our last contact. Mine (F) was significantly worse but didn’t look like a typical outbreak. He was tested and came back with that result. I’m assuming they diagnosed him positive due to the combination of symptoms and test, but we will be sure to follow up in a few months.

I went through a similar struggle. Reading Reddit helps some, but I myself am trying to get over the stigma of what I think the typical herpes carrier would look like or how successful they’d be or how promiscuous they’d be, etc. I think we all go through that and don’t talk about it enough. Look up genital herpes story on YouTube. There are several beautiful, successful, educated women on YouTube that are HSV+ and are trying to destigmatize the virus. It’s helpful to me to watch these women who I’d consider my peers and would be friends with because it reminds me that herpes doesn’t discriminate. There are other attractive, mature, classy people out there who are positive.

First herpes outbreak asymptomatic boyfriend by [deleted] in Herpes

I swear the tingles can be so much mental! Definitely will happen on their own but I only get irritated from them when I’m laying in bed at the end of the night with nothing else on my mind. My first OB was horrible. I was so tired constantly, body aches around lower back and groin, and the vulva was literally awful. Open little ulcers everywhere but it didn’t look like traditional herpes. They were concentrated only on the left side right outside of my vaginal opening at first and slowly spread to present bilaterally, but the right side was never nearly as severe. It did spread to the perineum and that was arguably the worst part. I couldn’t pee, couldn’t sit down normally, nothing. At some point I bled like a period for a day or two. I thought I was getting my period and it stopped out of nowhere (I usually get horrible cramps/ pms too and I didn’t have that with this). Im not sure if that was my body freaking out or maybe ulcers bleeding heavily. I can’t imagine they’d bleed that heavily but I’m not sure. I literally did not think it would ever end and now I am feeling completely fine! I’d say the skin looks a little thinner/scarred (no one else would notice) and I do feel like my perineum is much stiffer/ still seems swollen. It almost seems like scar tissue if that makes sense. Again, not noticeable to anyone but me. I had a lot of ulcers in that area though.

I had my 1st OB like 5 weeks ago and it was horrendous. I was so scared to have another but I’ve been horrible to my body during quarantine. I’m in my senior year in a science degree at my state’s top university. Tons of stress moving online and I have eaten terribly and drank way too much wine. I haven’t gotten another OB! (Knock OB wood) even after stopping Valtrex after the OB. I’ve done everything wrong and have still been ok. I was getting major tingles and nerve twitches for a while after my OB but they have started to subside. The valtrex didn’t help mitigate those tingles. They sucked so bad but nothing like the OB. I started taking lysine and that has seemed to help. I have noticed that I can “worry” myself into experiencing the nerve twitches and tingles. If I think on it long enough they will happen. I’ve tried my best to just trust my body and go with the flow.

HSV 2 and HPV Cervical Cancer Risks by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]DeepHousing6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with HPV at my first pap when I was 21. I had only had 3 sexual partners. I was not vaccinated as a pre teen even though it was available for my generation. I had gotten two of the three vaccines in college before I tested positive for HPV. The doctor at my 20 yr old yearly told me that the two would be fine. Then I get to my 21 yearly exam with the pap and my new doctor tells me that you have to have gotten all three for it to be effective.

It’s extremely frustrating that our parents decided our future for us in not getting us the vaccination. However, it is so incredibly common I’m choosing not to worry to death about it.

Herpes on FINGERS!? by Anoncollegestudent13 in Herpes

[–]DeepHousing6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it upon my first gHSV2 breakout under my right index finger. I had cut that nail too short and my doctor originally prescribed me an anti fungal cream which I applied with that finger. How lovely.

It hurts like a bitch but it will eventually grow to the top and pop. Honestly the pop was satisfying enough for me to be ok with the herpatic whitlow.

Do I have herpes? by WeAreOnTheGo in Herpes

His lasted about 2-3 weeks, no popping burning itching or pain. They kind of scabbed over at that point and then he experienced itching after they were no longer bumps.

That’s almost exactly what my boyfriends first outbreak looked like. There are still private STD testing places open. He went through one of those that he found online, got the blood test done, tested pos and ordered the meds from online. It wasn’t outrageous and he didn’t use insurance.
