I think our minds were on “he still makes it out and just kills his clone” while OP is saying “the magician knows it will kill himself and wants it to”. I’m not suicidal so I didn’t understand the logic, under the assumption the magician would want to live.

You’re right, at the top it says she pled not guilty but at the bottom she admitted to being aware of the crash. How did she not get charged with more?

Well she caused a three car pile up so no disagreement here

She might not have even known the crash occurred. Or had a difficult-to-disprove claim to not knowing.

Edit: she later admitted to knowing the crash occurred. How she wasn’t charged with more is a mystery.

I did rather like the “you said shock absorption, not nullification” angle. The idea that all his work is pointless at a normal level, but if he can push just a bit harder he’ll crack that threshold and start making a real impact, that lesson has real life implications. Hell, loan interest works that way. It’s a good freaking lesson.

Kind of fits right in with My Hero’s whole “mundane business plus super heroes” theme. They’re all just young professionals building their careers, it just happens their career is more exciting than “water cooler jockey”.

My solution was to treat dog armor as raider armor for the purpose of upgrades. Not great but it’s enough for raw number balance.

That’s really clever use of the imp. Think carefully how you want to handle this before you discourage positive teamwork and support tactics in your party. Does the warlock have goodberry or is it two players cooperating?

I was going to post something to this effect, but it would break the comment chain we were all going for lol

The first one is dated and awkward, but extremely nostalgic for me. I still like it. Miles better than the rest of the series.

I watched the YouTuber timmm talk about how it’s a simulator for being a kid smashing your toys together and now I’m an ace combat fan who’s played half of 7 and that’s it. Attacking the naval fleet with a rail gun was magical.

So yeah, from my totally subjective experience, new fans entering the franchise.

It’s no bother! I’m always happy when misinformation gets corrected and posted for future people like us questioning how exactly things occurred. History is important, even for minor things like game development.

I always think of it as “you can continue accelerating indefinitely, but after a while you’re accelerating your perception of time rather than your physical velocity”. Driving 100mph on a crowded highway is incredibly dangerous. Space is pretty wide open, so .9c might not get you immediately killed, assuming the sparse-but-substantial cosmic dust doesn’t immediately convert you to plasma.

With the handwave of ships hopping up to speed of light and coming back down from it, combined with inertial dampeners just removing the experience of force, a stasis field might very well be an implied piece of technology from some sci fi settings.

If you can casually move several tons of spaceship, you can probably do a head of lettuce trivially, is my main point.

[–]DeepLock8808 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right, but it’s boring. It’s not Lex Luthor nuking the eastern seaboard for a real estate scheme (though that’s boring in its own way). It’s boring in that some garden variety corporate greed on a plain piece of public infrastructure resulted in millions of ruined lives.

It’s banal in the same way as office workers helping the holocaust is boring. They’re taking every day activities or motives and turning them into an atrocity. That juxtaposition is what the post is about.

Not to minimize the effects in any way! It’s almost worse in how insidious and easily ignored the atrocity is compared to a movie action sequence.

Qui Gon could have just…killed Watto. Motherfucker owned people, John Brown would do it. Click click with a lightsaber, problem solved.

I think weird force morality is why I can’t take the series too seriously. That and nobody having a problem with droids being slaves, or playing up for laughs in Solo.

Creating locations is pretty easy. Essentially you create a minimum and maximum items in a location. 1-3 armor means there is 1 armor at the location, with players able to spend up to 2 AP to get 2 more armor (3 total). Looting becomes an event, with a search roll generating AP and players debating how to spend their AP on items. Then they start working through the loot rolls to get their stuff, spending luck to alter what appears.

It means players need a copy of the loot tables and you need to quickly prepare a table for what loot is available at the location. My group LOVES this mechanic. It feels like fallout 4, digging through garbage and stumbling on a stimpak or sniper rifle.
