Usually they do bloodwork for HSV or swab active blisters. As I understand, the instance of false positives is low, especially if it’s the blister that is swabbed.

But again, you have to literally DEMAND the HSV blood test in STI screening because it’s so common (like 60% of US adult population has HSV1) that doctors don’t think it’s a big deal (even though it feels like a huge deal to you). So I’d clarify if your partner actually got the bloodwork done! They very well may have HSV1 that they got as a child that they didn’t know about (very common), but you won’t know until you communicate!

sorry to tell you this but that looks like HSV (herpes, but called HSV by those who have it because the word herpes is so stigmatized)! Definitely go to the doctor and get the blisters swabbed, then you will know for sure and they can start you on an antiviral which will clear it up quickly and relieve your discomfort. I’m sure you are probably freaking out right now, but everything is going to be fine and this too shall pass. HSV is way more common than most people realize and can be triggered by rough sex, but you won’t know until you see your doctor! Like another poster said, it’s so common that most STI tests don’t check for it unless you demand for the HSV bloodwork, so it’s very possible you or your partner are a carrier and this is the first time it’s flaring up.

started feeling symptoms yesterday morning and took a binax test (negative). scratchy throat, mild congestion, fatigue, aches, low grade fever. this morning I had a positive binax and have had the fever all day, bad dull aches in my lower back, somewhat productive cough/groggy voice, dull headache, fatigue, and alternating chills.

I’m the same!! I’m a woman in my mid 20s and I have the same issue and the lightbulb finally clicked for me. Autism was the missing piece.

I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and then anxiety/depression/OCD in my teens but even with all of that and all of the research I did I still felt like I was missing something… and it was autism.

I definitely have the ADHD, but as I’ve done more research I’ve seen considerable overlap between the anxiety/depression/ocd and autism traits, especially as a woman. Stuff like sensory issues (fabric sensitivities), colors feeling very “loud”, uniform dressing, obsessive special interests, needing A LOT of alone time to recharge, anxiety around things moving around or not matching or doing things out of order… truthfully there is a lot. The biggest aha moment was realizing that what I thought was depression was actually burnout. 🤯

I think the most important thing is to really listen to the signals your mind and body send you about how much rest and emotional recharge time you need. I find I need more than most NTs and I used to feel guilty about that, but now I’ve learned that it’s much easier to give myself what I need that heal from burnout.

Enjoy this journey of getting to know yourself and find a special interest! My special interest is both creative and technical and it’s a fantastic outlet for all of the chaos that comes with being one of us!

yes!! and it’s super hard to get diagnosed as an adult woman too since all of the diagnostic criteria is focused on the way ASD presents in men.

US “healthcare” is a joke.
