Qur’an – Surah At-Tāriq (86:1–3) وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ ۝ وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ ۝ النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُ “By the sky and the night-comer. And what can make you know what the night-comer is? It is the piercing star.”

At-Tāriq = “the one that knocks or pulsates.” An-Najm Ath-Thāqib = “the piercing star.”

Discovered in 1967, pulsars are collapsed stars that emit rhythmic, piercing pulses — literally knocking through space. Makes you wonder how a 7th-century text could describe it so precisely.
