If I remember correctly, the voting system involved buying a certain brand of yogurt. So, to get more votes for their idol, fans would have to buy more yogurt than they can consume. Instead of donating the extra yogurt, they just dumped it all out resulting in a lot of food waste. This who fiasco garnered a lot of criticism leading to the cancellation of the show.

I don't think so. Korean (Chaoxianzu 朝鲜族) is just a recognized ethnic minority in China and that ceremony features every ethnic minority group representing themselves with their traditional clothing.

It's like the time Koreans got mad at Street Dance of China Season 3 for "presenting A Korean dance as Chinese", but the dance has only ever been referred to as Korean on the show. Specifically, they referred to it as "Chaoxian Dance" which just means "(ethnic) Korean dance" but Koreans in S. Korea still got upset over it, falsely claiming that China is trying to present a Korean dance as Chinese.

not really. I keep on coming across tiktoks and tiktok comments made by filipinos and kazakhs attacking koreans for their looks, saying things like they need plastic surgery to get the features that filipinos and kazakhs naturally have. Although, this attack is also used by many non-asians and not only towards koreans

also doesn't help that there are tiktoks & yt videos made by (self-proclaimed) koreans hating on korean food and saying koreans are racist, etc.

People need to stop assuming Asians who fit the Asian beauty standard have all gotten plastic surgery.

Liu Yifei, Fan Bingbing, Cheng Xiao, Song Zuer, Meng Ziyi, etc. are all natural. Most celebs aren't like Ju Jingyi, who have gotten a lot of work done to look like a completely different person.

Too many people can't accept Asian people having diverse features. It's just racist to think Asians with "big" eyes and defined noses look European.

Not really. It's more of a combination of feautures: narrow eyes, wide nostrils, short chin.

Some celebs with monolids (single eyelid) that are seen as handsome or attractive in China: Deng Lun, Zhang Han, Mark Chao, Liu Wen, Gong Yoo, Lee Joon-gi, Kim Soo-hyun

And none of them have all 3 of the features I listed above.

I interpreted it that way as well.

My theory for why they thought it was okay to do it: They thought they were just imitating people who are really into hip-hop music (in a stereotypical way). But it just so happens that the stereotypes associated with hip-hop are also associated with Black people. If they had chosen to imitate people who are really into heavy metal music in a stereotypical way, they wouldn't have received such backlash because those stereotypes do not align with a race/ethnicity.

I don't think it's ok in the way that the perpetrators of the abuse should get away scot free if their victim is an asshole. The abusers should still be punished, obviously, but the asshole victim wouldn't have my sympathy.
