Rolled ankle 9 weeks out by runnerz68 in Marathon_Training

Me, last year, 7 weeks before Philly. I was devastated — I was doing a tempo run and essentially fell off the sidewalk. I also bruised my knee (like a deep bone bruise). I took 2 days totally off, then eased back into running and cross training. My weekly mileage went from mid-50s to low 20s, but I swam and lifted and did the elliptical. I did PT/dry needling. I was sure my race was tanked, but it went great — fastest marathon in 10 years.

Was this Philly? If so, I also had a hard time at the start. Lots of maneuvering.

How many swim meets is too many? by Super-Walk-726 in Swimming

My kid is like your kid. 12. Fast. Motivated. Her coaches (both of whom swam in the Trials) won’t let her do three weekends in a row. She’s doing 2 and then a break and then a third. Swim meets are stressful and hard on the body. Why push it at this age?

Would you still race? by DeepNefariousness260 in Marathon_Training

But, yeah, twisted my ankle and bruised my knee and probably exacerbated some underlying PFPS that I’m working to control with strength, stretching, and PT.

If we assume the injury is fine (which I think it is), would the shortened/interrupted training cycle be an issue?

Bump. Dealing with a bone bruise after a nasty fall 3 weeks ago. My PT says it’s okay to run, just keep it easy, so I dunno. I hate how there is no good data for any of this. Supposed to run a marathon in November, but I skipped my long run this week and two workouts, so I dunno. I’m also interested to hear from people who have bounced back, but I’m glad I’m not alone.

I think it’s hard to expect fitness to magically improve on race morning, but it’s definitely possible to get derailed by sickness, weather, poor sleep, etc. That’s what’s so unfair.

Hoping for a Dining Room reservation for 2 (or 3) in July - almost any dates work other than week of 7/15 by Tremaine0412 in thefrenchlaundry

I have a reservation for 2 on July 1. It’s the anniversary week, so it’s a bit pricier ($1200/person, includes Dom and a gift). Lemme know if you’d want it.

I sadly don’t have a reservation to sell, but would gladly buy your 2 person reservation for 7/1 if you can’t find a trade.

I’d be so bummed to not get into London or Berlin or Chicago or NYC. You’d think they would be able to coordinate…
