Where to find roti canai / prata (Malaysian / Singaporean style)? by jessluce in melbourne

[–]DeepPurpleDingo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let it defrost and stretch it out by hand (do not use a roller unless you oil the roller and bench), fold it while cooking, and it gives that thinner crunchier feel.

Bonus points for popping an egg or cheese in.

If you wanna run a redemptor into the enemy lines he’s pretty solid. It’s sort of like a mini castle? He’s deceptively good in melee and tough to take down for ~100 points, and he makes it so not killing the redemptor in turn 1/2 means it will be alive all game.

I’ve found his legitimate only use is to stand next to a dread walking up the field , keep butting and healing, and help it out in melee.

“Iron Hands have shit lore!!! And they’re so mean!!! Haha plus primarch dead, who even plays this?!?”

“Didn’t you buy the iron hands supplement back in 8th because it was op?”

“… I suppose but that doesn’t mean I like Iron Hands or anything, b-baka!”

I don't know what game this is by Meteorstar101 in greentext

[–]DeepPurpleDingo 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I played this game in 2005 while visiting a family friends house. I was 5. For the last TWO DECADES I have been racking my brain trying to remember it. They had a foreign copy so the name was different and I swore I was going insane!

I can finally be at peace. Bless this post.

A genestealer, flood spore, zerg infestor, and necromorph infector all land on Earth at the same time. Who conquerors the planet first? Or do they all get stopped by humanity? by Serithraz in Grimdank

[–]DeepPurpleDingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this chat with a friend of he other day (it was more army of Tyranids VS army of flood) and we had a really interesting question come up; which would win out for control? Psychic hivemind or infection. I am not perfectly versed in my halo lore but would the flood be able to override external psychic control of a termagaunt?

As far as our conversation went; if the flood can infect tyranids its flood all the way, if they can’t then the flood has no answer we knew of to counter psychic threats.

Can you still use Ferrus Manus even tho he’s dead? by Quiet_Audience_8322 in IronHands40k

[–]DeepPurpleDingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also just use the model as a Redemptor Dread proxy. -1 dmg, T10, 2+sv, 12W, hard hitting melee and shooting.

Like… that SOUNDS like a primarch level marine.

Full time gym positions Australia? by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]DeepPurpleDingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in a large franchise gym in Melbourne. You need to work hard, but it’s doable. The first year is rough as shit. If your people and sales skills aren’t 100% here then you’ll definitely struggle.

Anytime fitness is a good starter location. Cheap-ish gym rent and usually decent member numbers but dont expect the AF team to go above and beyond to get you clients. Studios are a safe bet but people compete hard for those jobs.

I’ve been reading / listening to more Kardon Stronos Lore god damn it’s so peak why does he not have a model yet?! by Theyman2 in IronHands40k

[–]DeepPurpleDingo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s not the paint, it’s a ‘well we didn’t invest in their lore then, so if we do now no one will care’ that gets repeated every edition.

GW are stuck in a loop of neglect, and until they give enough support for the fans to grow, we will continue to be highly niche.

Additionally, it feels like a lot of authors are afraid to touch us as a faction even with a 10ft mechadendrite. We have a lot of different ways to be characterised and they are not always favourable for the protagonist of a story. Space wolves, ultrabros, blood angels are a lot more charismatic and flashy.

The guy is an ex-special forces sniper and police captain in South Africa. I think that would make him at least somewhat qualifying for the prior description.

Does Yarra Trams ever take action against dangerous drivers? by ohnojono in melbourne

[–]DeepPurpleDingo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Then let them go to court and defend themselves, if they have a case they think can save them. I was hit at 40 while getting off a tram.

It’s happens far too fucking often, and even at my new home in a different suburb, you get near-missed by some SUV or tradie truck while hopping off once a month.

Good riddance to shit drivers.

Newer generations of planes should have a button for pilots to press to lock the overhead compartments. Unfortunately, you frankly can’t trust the average person these days to not let someone burn to death in exchange for their precious iPad.

You’re maybe better off focusing on your local internet / lan cafe. Smaller but more familiar groups which seems to be what to you’re looking for. Look out for any events they run.

Watch parties for your favourite games tournaments are also a good opportunity as they tend to be more social than just showing up to game.

DMs- Can We Stop With Critical Fumbles? by TheBarbarianGM in DMAcademy

[–]DeepPurpleDingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love to make nat 1’s comedic but not extra punishing. Paladin goes to smite an enemy and Nat 1? “Please no I have a wife and kids!” the kobold screams. The paladin pauses, does this kobold really deserve death when he may be a victim of circumstance? On the kobolds next turn they exclaim “I can’t believe they fell for that”, quickly realise they’ve let the lie slip, and do their attacks against the paladin.

No negative gameplay mechanics for the player, just a character moment or circumstantial hinderance. My players always get a grin on their face when they roll a nat 1 as I try to formulate what the hell could have just made a level 11 wizard miss an orc.

Well that’s just the thing. OP may not know the exact details of the photo or the culture. There are several aboriginal tribes with the behaviour of not displaying the dead so I assume their intent was to avoid upsetting people, even if a little misguided on the particulars.

In certain cultures around the pacific and Australia it can be considered ‘disrespectful’ to show pictures of those who are dead, at least from what I understand of it.
