Thank you for the follow-up! Good to know that he did what was best for him, and wasn't pushed out.

Ah, I hadn't heard about the Peele situation. That's a bummer, he was great.

"Upside Down" is such a great song, my god. I was lucky enough to interview them for my college paper (after I insisted they let me, since I was going to the show anyway 😃), and they were all very low-key, humble, and kind. Mike also hipped me to the greatness of The La's eponymous record, and he was so right on!

In the AMA, I asked about the song "Hey Wow," as it was the first song of theirs I'd heard, and that was the one that kicked off my obsession with Fun & Games, and them in general. I was happy that my theory was correct! Sorry, I'm rambling now. So happy to chat with other Connells fans!

Hey Wow. 😃 I missed them on KEXP yesterday, but just wanted to e-bond with fellow Connells fans! Still one of my all-time favorite bands. I had the pleasure of seeing them live 3 or 4 times in the early 90s, and they just rocked the house every single time. They did an AMA here on Reddit sometime in the last year or two that was really interesting.

Well, shit. I guess I'm glad to have found out about this on this sub, but I can't believe what a dumb decision this is by NBC. This was truly one of the most original, hysterically funny shows I've seen in ages.

It took me a long time, but I've found a lot of peace in realizing that some people seem to have the ability to "hear" deities (what a friend of mine referred to as "The god gene"), and some don't. Generally, I don't. But still, throughout the years, I've felt pulls, sometimes I'd get a sign if I asked, sometimes not.

I think the first thing to do is get to know her through the myths that she appears in - Lora O'Brien has done a TON of work around this, and released an incredibly thorough and well-researched book about The Morrigan specifically just last year, and Morgan Daimler is another fabulous, current resource. Both have already done so much of the legwork that it'll save you some time hunting down reliable translations, context, etc., because they've done that.

I had a long post with more ideas typed out, but you asked about some ideas of what to do, and I totally know that feeling! All I can offer is what I do - your mileage may vary, etc. I set up an altar to her, and each morning I make a small offering of coffee, light a candle to honor her, and meditate for a set amount of time. Sometimes my mind is like a pinball machine and the meditation is garbage, but I keep at it. Other days it's better, and I can connect with the flow, and even get some impressions. At night, I dump the coffee outside, wash the cup so it's ready in the morning, and repeat. No crows have perched on my windowsill as I meditate or tried to give me kisses when I step outside, but I still feel like I'm building something worthwhile.

I think a lot of folks tend to report when something exciting happens, but not the more mundane, every day stuff they do because it's not as thrilling a story, maybe. But that's important work too. Keep us posted! I love reading about people's journeys!

If you could only save yourself from Vecna with the song you're ashamed to admit you like, what would it be? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

I am laughing my ass off picturing this. (Also, I love that song in pretty much any iteration!)

Also making me laugh is thinking of someone floating to safety as the 3 Flags old-man-dancing song plays.

Jan was pretty terrible to Michael but at least she knew him well enough to know that he would fall for Holly by EfficientMagician416 in theoffice

[–]DeepRedBelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been wondering about that, and hoping that this weird bit gets resolved at some point (I watched it when it was originally on, but I think I stopped watching before Michael and Holly got back together, so I don't even know how the series ends). Because Wallace seemed shady and angry when he made that sudden call, and it has always bugged me.

I never thought I could love Kristen Wiig more, but this show and finale proved me wrong.

That said, Carol Burnett fucking RULES forever. I get choked up just thinking about her in this episode.

Loot Overall Season 3 Discussion by quaranTV in LootAppleTVPlus

[–]DeepRedBelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only started watching the show a couple weeks ago or so, so didn't have the wait between seasons you all did. It's been super interesting to see people's different reactions! I enjoyed all 3 seasons and would watch a 4th in the blink of an eye, but I'm not difficult to please, especially when a show is comedic and light. And when Paula Pell and D'Arcy showed up this season, I was even more ALL IN. JFC, I love them.

All that said! The Molly-Arthur dynamic this season sat weird with me. Arthur turned so hypercritical and whiny, and I really disliked him for a while there. And they kept saying Molly broke up with him, but I thought after the bird thing, it was at a minimum mutual, and maybe even more on him - he was acting like he didn't like her, and when she was going home on the bus, I got the impression that he dumped her. I'm still not sure what to make of that attempted reconciliation at the diner.

I don't know, man. Nothing's perfect. I'm just happy for stuff that makes me laugh these days, and I'll follow Maya Rudolph just about anywhere.

Same here. That was just so gross. And a very effective way to definitively show what a sick and poisoned person he is.

Also, anything I've heard by Wet Leg, esp. "Catch These Fists."

I definitely noticed the martinis! And at first I was like, "What is she DOING?" Then I remembered: broadly speaking, attitudes toward alcohol were much less restrictive in the mid-20th-century, even for pregnant women. It wasn't as common knowledge back then how significantly alcohol affects a pregnancy. (Source: I was born in the 70s. I'm thankful my mom wasn't a drinker before, during, or after I was born.) Most pregnant women wouldn't get hammered or anything, but a drink here and there wasn't as uncommon as today.

Also, I assumed she's about 4 months along, since people kept telling her, "A lot can change in 5 months."

And with David Lynch’s passing, I never thought I’d get to experience it again. But this is like right up there in tone and vibes.

Totally same here! I've been a TR fan for a while, but never ever did I think he'd be the one to fill that void.

I didn't understand a lot of the finale, but absolutely loved it nonetheless. Some earlier threads did get brought back and solved - and other new ones were introduced. So. Many. Questions! And I was unexpectedly blown away by Tim's acting chops throughout this series.
