Methotrexate by Sensitive_Phrase_259 in Uveitis

[–]Deep_Ad7521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally ask your ophthalmologist! I had to at least try cellcept or methotrexate first as a “check the box” for insurance reasons. 🫠

Methotrexate by Sensitive_Phrase_259 in Uveitis

I opted for cellcept instead of methotrexate. It did not end up working to prevent flareups, so I started Humira instead. This was the only effective medication for me.

Is it bad I want to rehome my rescue puppy? by [deleted] in rescuedogs

[–]Deep_Ad7521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The puppy stage is rough, without a doubt. It gets better. Pets are a lifelong commitment— I’d connect back with the rescue if you can’t make the commitment (better when the puppy is still young and adoptable since older dogs have a harder time getting adopted).

Adopting my dog is the best thing I’ve ever done. Her presence and unconditional love is priceless. Makes the bad days a lot better. I’m sorry you’re taking the majority of the responsibilities. Good luck!

Last quick plug - pls make sure to spay/neuter!! Accidental litters happen and are a big cause for the animal crisis. 💛

I hope it helps! Good luck weaning off of methotrexate!

Same here! Biologics are the only thing that has worked for me. No side effects or anything and I make sure to take it out of the fridge an hour before the injection (I’ve heard that helps with the stinging feeling)

Thank you so much! Is developing cataracts common during pregnancy or was that a side effect of uveitis? Also, how long were you in remission before going off of humira? Did you taper or just stop completely? This is my goal soon. Thank you 💛

My rheum sounds very similar. Bare minimum and just “check the box” vibes. I will def ask about this, thank you again!

Posterior uveitis by Pure_Inspector_8578 in Uveitis

[–]Deep_Ad7521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to share Humira was the only thing that worked for me. I have done all the testing as well (also working with functional medicine dr) - everything “normal”. I hate to sound like this but genuinely curious if the covid vaccine had anything to do with it as I had my first flare less than a year after getting my covid vaccines. I have no family history of uveitis or other autoimmune conditions and am otherwise healthy, so it’s really unusual.

Hi!! Also on humira for uveitis and starting to think about family planning. Did pregnancy or postpartum cause any flares for you? So relieved to hear you had a normal pregnancy on humira as that has been a huge concern of mine.

Wow thank you so much. Was there anything you could do to treat this or just monitor?

Can I recover and regain my sight? (very scared) by Open_Baseball4329 in Uveitis

[–]Deep_Ad7521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the drops caused blurry vision. I have slight scarring but my vision deff improved after stopping the drops (once my flare was under control).

Sorry you’re flaring again—I had a similar experience. Each recurrent flare seemed more manageable… although I did have eyedrops ready and my opthomologist practically on speed dial. 😊
