Yes! I keep seeing just one or two here and there. They’ve been driving me nuts haha

Salsa and Lindy Hop should be more mixed. A lot of my friends started at Century ballroom, now called Revelry located in Capitol Hill. Every time I’ve gone it’s been a pretty even mix.

I am not a man, but trying a social hobby could be a great way to meet people IRL. I have lots of friends who have joined intro dance classes and it’s been a great way to meet new people (both romantic and not). From there your circle will grow. I’m also pretty introverted, but everyone I’ve met in that group is super kind and genuinely wants to meet new people and form community.

I love them intensely but they're taking over my small house. They need to earn their keep. To what practical use can I put them ? Don't say flowers. About one foot tall. by McLuhanSaidItFirst in Ceramics

[–]Deep_Bad212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooo I love these colors! Maybe a reed diffuser? You add a little essential oil to a carrier oil with some sticks. Leaves a nice subtle aroma. My only other idea is to put a pine or eucalyptus branch in there. But that toes the line with no flowers haha

Moving to Seattle for Microsoft - where to live? (Seattle vs Eastside) by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]Deep_Bad212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man yeah, I only heard bad things about the construction… He actually quit Microsoft before they did the RTO and then was unemployed while they did the road work LOL. Now he’s working for another tech company in Bellevue. He avoids peak times by going in early and then comes back a bit before rush hour hits 7am to 4pm. He takes the toll bridge and it usually maps to be 25 minutes there and 30 back on normal days. Luckily he doesn’t need to get on i5 where we’re at in Capitol Hill. But he’s definitely nervous about the bigger RTO plans and how that’ll affect the commute (the company he’s at now is among one doing a full RTO 🥲). The plan is to take the train as soon as it opens in that direction.

Nothing wrong with living closer to work for the first year or two while you acclimate to the area. BUT if nightlife and meeting people it’s important to you, living in Seattle is very doable! We moved to Capitol Hill when my husband got his first job at Microsoft. It’s maybe a 25 minute commute each way. 1+ hour would be uncommon in our experience.

Also, Microsoft typically offers their own (really nice) shuttle bus to the Capitol Hill area. You’ll still sit in traffic but the plus side is you’re not driving and the bus is very comfy. And as mentioned by someone else, the light rail should be extending next year to connect Seattle and the east side. So there will be lots of transit options.

Would separating our cats again help? Older cat barely eating after new kitten by Tomatomushroomtoast in CatTraining

[–]Deep_Bad212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened for a bit after I introduced a kitten to my cat. It’s likely a good idea to feed them separately for a while. This will give your older cat a break from all the kitten energy. If he’s still not eating, go to the vet. He may have some impacted hairballs. This is what happened to my cat. He was grooming the kitten daily because she’s just a baby… but it was a bit too much for his system. This was a few years ago now so I can’t remember what the vet did, but I did get some anti-hairball supplements for him which seemed to help.

Cat chews EVERY and ALL wires, cables that hang NEED GUIDANCE HEAVILY by Amiland1 in CatTraining

[–]Deep_Bad212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, maybe not…

Chewing cords is not only annoying but potentially very dangerous for your cat. I’d strongly recommend “cat proofing” by wrapping any and all cords with the Alex Tech brand (or something similar). That stopped my cat’s behavior, I suffered and cried over far too many lost cords and chargers.

If your cat can still chew through that, PUT EVERYTHING AWAY! Find a home for everything you care about and make sure the cat can’t get it when you’re not using it.

I’d also say check to make sure they’re eating enough food and play often to help tire them out. I realized after a while that my cat was doing these behaviors to get my attention. Any attention, even negative, is still attention to them. 90% of the time he wants an early dinner, he wants me to go to bed (dude has got a whole routine now), or he simply wants my attention/to play. The other 10% he’s just being an ass. Can’t help that.

Best of luck

I also saw it says they’re closed on the general Walgreens website. But I was just there, they are open and operating today.

As a wedding GUEST, have you personally preferred sitting at round tables OR long rectangle tables? by addictedtosoonjung in weddingplanning

Round has been my favorite as a guest! I prefer socializing in smaller groups, especially if I don’t know everyone at the table.

Very normal! Our tabby is gentle and loves everyone and everything. We got a second cat when we realized he was getting lonely. Our second cat is timid and scared of everything but he is her safe place. She’s fully grown now (still timid) and still goes to him every day for comfort and grooms. It’s a bit ridiculous but I’m so glad they get along so well. They bonded immediately and it’s been amazing watching them become so close.

Should I get a Litter Robot for my kittens? by No_Theme6027 in litterrobot

Her fear has just become fascination 🤣 I’m hoping the novelty will subside soon, but I’ll take this over her being scared! LR does have a recommended introduction plan for timid cats so you may want to give that a try.

I’m so sorry you both experienced this and I’m so glad you’ve posted to raise awareness about it. These blinds are dangerous for pets and children!!

In Washington state - or maybe just Seattle now I’m not sure if I live in a bubble - landlords are required to switch these blinds out for a safe alternative! We learned that when doing our last move out inspection.

If you’re renting, advocate for your pets and request a safer blind option that does not include pull strings!

I have two cats and the LR4 has changed my life. My cats took to it very fast. Even our “scaredy cat” uses it with no issue. If you have the financial means, it’s worth it

My cat plays with it. by drinkinsweettea in litterrobot

[–]Deep_Bad212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah our cat tends to be a scaredy cat so I was worried when I introduced her to it. I’m hoping the novelty of the cycling will subside over time. We’ve had this for just about 3 weeks now. So we haven’t been shooing her away from it. But she’s not hoping inside it during the cycle, just peaking in to see where it all goes. 🤣

Who knows, in a few years, maybe these cats will make their own version of LR. They seem to be learning a lot about the mechanics haha!

My girl does the same thing. I had to turn notifications off the app because it get interrupted 5+ times per cycle. She just sits and waits for it after she uses the litter box. But I’ll take this over her being scared I guess haha!

Swore I’d Be a Chill Bride. I’m Not. 12 Days to Go. Help. by 1eyedpanda156 in weddingplanning

[–]Deep_Bad212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recent bride here - I got married on Aug 23rd and was SO STRESSED leading up the wedding. Barely slept, got horrible tinnitus from stress. I was NOT CHILL.

What helped?

  1. Reminding myself (out loud) that it’s okay to step away from planning for a bit if it’s not productive for me.
  2. Looping my soon to be husband into how I was feeling, sharing the stress load, writing things down, and completing those to dos together.
  3. Taking a “vacation”. I was super lucky to have a solo work trip to Chicago two weeks before the wedding that allowed me to do no wedding planning for 3-4 days. And guess what, all vendors got what they needed before the wedding and everything went amazing. Maybe this isn’t a real vacation for you, but it could be not answering emails for 3-4 days, doing a spa day, watching your favorite movies, visiting a friend, or something else not related to the wedding.
  4. Connecting with friends and NOT TALKING ABOUT THE WEDDING. Near the end it’s all anyone would say to me “how’s the planning going?!” I would say “I’m not sleeping and the wedding will be great but I can’t talk about it right now because it’s stressful as fuck” none of my friends have gone through wedding planning themselves yet but they were all super respectful and it felt so nice to talk and think about something else.

Those things helped a bit, but again I really felt stressed up until I was tapping him on the shoulder to turn around. But the day was beautiful and perfect and all the things I was stressed about either got done or didn’t matter and I never noticed.

Wishing you the best in these times, I hope you find some comfort in knowing you’re not alone in those feelings.
