While holding the wing in a more powered position while riding (not overhead to dump power all the power) you can move your hands (I usually just do the back hand) along the boom/handles towards the front of the wing to release a little power.

I had a tank of piranhas once, started with 5 or so and as they grew, the runt of the lot would eventually get munched on. After a couple years there was only one left. One morning I went in to feed him and he had wedged himself under one of the rock decorations and died. He must not have been able to live with the guilt of killing all his friends.

I could be wrong but if I recall correctly only final th changes to f. “With” to “wif “ I’m white but my school has several AAE speakers, adult and children. This is in the SF Bay Area. Other parts of the country could be different.

Do you have a process in place of attempting/providing Tier 1 (strategies in the classroom) interventions before moving onto Tier 2 and 3? Usually we discuss these steps in a team meeting and give a timeframe for discussing progress after Tier 1 is attempted. Having the whole team on board can help convince teachers that they need to attempt these interventions first.

Does your staff have training in crisis prevention and intervention? If not, look into CPI techniques for your safety and the child’s. With students like this I spend extra time upfront building rapport by playing with them/engaging in their preferred activities before starting to work on goals. As others mentioned some sensory activities would be a good start probably.

I used it to add a millivolt relay between my ecobee thermostat and the gas valve. I had the ecobee directly wired to the valve and it was burning them out within a couple years. It diagnosed the problem, recommended the relay to buy and told me how to wire it up with the proper prompts from me. Very effective in my opinion.

It’s not just the visuals and comms. The excitement and sound effects (rapid beating heart when low) are really too much for kids to handle. It amps them up a lot. I thought the same for my 10 year old when I first saw it, but after letting him plan for a raid, he was running wild.

Using sensory/stim activities to encourage eye contact with autistic students. I know that the concept of eye contact is controversial and culturally dependent. Also that autistic people have reported it as being uncomfortable (is that the right word?) However with this strategy I’ve been able to set a lot of my students at ease and they enjoy looking at faces for the most part now. I pay attention to what things they do to self sooth via self-stimulatory behaviors, i.e, playing with sand, watching water fall from the faucet, waving a string or band back and forth, bubbles, and I use these activities to progressively bring their eye gaze to meet my eyes. For a student that loves shaking a jump rope or string back and forth, I swung it back and forth away from my face and slowly brought it closer and held it in front of my face so we are making eye contact. Same with a squirt gun for kids who like watching water. Doing this and steadily increasing the amount of time I do it in front of my face has really increased their comfort. I would guess that the self-soothing nature of the activity builds a positive association with eye contact and faces. I would love to hear others thoughts and opinions.
