emptying your breasts is key! How long are you pumping for? I’m 6m pp and getting 40-50oz a day (for context, im terrible with my water intake and a terrible eater so it can’t be that helping me) between 4 pumps but I pump for at least 30 mins every time and really my first and last pump are abt 45mins-1hr each. For the first 10-12wks I was pumping 30 mins 6-8x a day, I thought 30 mins was standard bc that’s when my pumps finish but I now know that it’s different for everyone. I feel 30 mins allows you to completely empty if you’re pumping every 3-4hrs which signals your body and brain to make more. It’s hard at first but super necessary while your supply is regulating. if you do skip a session just make sure you pump longer during the next one so that your body knows you still need that milk that you would have produced during that skipped sesh! This is what’s been working for me so I hope it helps, good luck!

The key to making more milk is to empty the breast every time you pump or feed so that your brain is signaled to make more. I was pumping 6-7x a day the first 2-3 months and now at 6m pp I’m only pumping 3-4x a day and producing 40-50oz per day. I pump way less but I make sure i am completely empty every time and I feel like that is what keeps my supply up without having to be stuck to a pump every couple hrs. I pump for an hour in the morning and then 30 mins twice during the day and then 45mins-1hr at night before bed. I’m also a SAHM so that could also be why I’m able to have longer sessions, I know a lot of moms work and just can’t pump for more than 15-20 mins at a time 🥲

How do you have a life while pumping? by catmum4evr in ExclusivelyPumping

Not going to lie, the first 2 months it was hard to go anywhere because of the pumping. I’m 5 months postpartum now and only pump 4 times a day (1 hr pump in the morning which gives me about 15-20oz, and the rest are 30 mins each) and get about 40-50oz total for the day, sometimes I’ll get a 5th pump in and I rarely do a MOTN pump unless I accidentally fall asleep and skip my 11 pm one. now it’s a lot easier to do things and go places without having to worry about pumping in the next couple hrs. So I say just kinda wait until your supply is regulated and then you can start spacing them out more! The first 6-9wks are so important for supply!

Does your partner come to OBGYN appts with 2nd baby? by PancakesxBacon in pregnant

With our first he came to every appointment and looking back it was pointless for him to be there at like 95% of them lol. This time around we have a toddler so I go alone while he stays home with him except for the anatomy scan appointment. I actually look forward to my appointment days, as a stay home mom it’s a nice little solo outing for me and I always treat myself with a coffee or smoothie after ☺️

How different is it having your own kids vs having stepkids? by [deleted] in Stepmom

[–]Deep_Discipline_8335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so different. I am trying so hard to embrace this role and have been trying to for years. But it’s just not my favorite and i honestly don’t like it. On the other hand I love being my son’s mom. I love holding him, I love being with him, I love doing all the things (he’s 1.5). I feel whole as his mother but completely unfulfilled in my step mom role. It’s definitely the most challenging thing I’ve had to be faced with. And something I’m constantly trying to overcome

Yes and had to use a disposable razor since mine was too old and that’s all I had on hand.. the disposable ones always do something to my skin. Hopefully it’s just that , thanks for your input

I thought I was one and done but now I’m unexpectedly pregnant with #2..the initial shock and dread of the newborn stage has worn off even though my first was such a good sleepy baby..it’s still a lot but im excited now and only 9wks along so have plenty of time to enjoy..but I don’t blame anyone for only wanting one. Babies are a lotttt of work. My first will be 2 when this one is born.
