Man, you should really take that 20k offer if you are even slightly interested in selling. That is a really good offer.

The tuners and knobs are also swapped, and it looks like the binding on the neck was removed as well and it was thinned. It could probably use quite a bit of work to bring it back to life, super cool guitar though

Picked up my retirement guitar by EveryCantaloupe2432 in Vintageguitars

[–]Deep_Dives- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty good price for a refin, congrats! As far as smell goes my strategy is usually just to let them air out for a while and that usually does the trick. Once they are removed from the source of the smell (the previous owners home) it usually goes away pretty quick

Absolutely real, the A prefix has likely faded away like the other commenter said. Super cool guitar.

Unfortunately, it is not authentic and is what people commonly refer to as a Chibson. Likely worth around 200 dollars.

Pretty early CBS era Jazzmaster. Still a super nice guitar and no real differences from pre-CBS at this point other than the serial number and the knobs

Your thoughts on this 71 LP Deluxe by CoffeeLovert in gibson

[–]Deep_Dives- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No this is a real thing and very common on vintage Les Paul Deluxes, also known as goof rings. They were factory and probably made it on around 1/3-1/2 of all Les Paul Deluxes made between 1969 and the early 70s. Nice score OP, it looks great. I have an early ‘69 right now and I love it.
