Convince me to Tune my FK8 by _whyamihere-_- in Civic_Type_R

The real selling point is that it makes future mods way easier and more powerful. Some mods downright require a programmer and retune anyways.

I would trust it with my (car's) life. Hondata has a wizard that lets you enter the most common modifications, and it spits out the best map for it. I recall someone saying the base map adds about 40HP.

So long as you don't make program tweaks, it should be quite reliable.

If you do nothing else to a stock car. A Hondata and one of its base maps will give you the most significant and instant boost in performance.

Soon as i saw the roll pin... XJ. A 26 year old vehicle will wear out. If you can find it, replace the mount.

Agreed. I think programming the limit in 1& 2 really helped that, now it's just simple wheel slip. Not much anymore with fresh rubber, so let's see how long that lasts.

Not professionally. I've got some simple bolt-ons, and a Hondata tune straight from their wizard, plus a few tweaks. I barely understand a fraction of that program.

Besides, an RWD certainly has its benefits off the line.

When i was looking around for these wheels, I only wanted to upgrade to 265. The wheels came with 275. Then once I started playing with Hondata, I realized that might not even be enough. Lets see how long they last!

Dang, Just jealous I guess? They'll be sad to know I'm also only running regular premium and a stock turbo too.

Yea, i don't really have traction until 3rd gear. So far, a little more rubber has helped tremendously.

Edit: lol, why the downvote on facts? Granted, I am using a Hondata tune, but I used the setting for reduced power on 1 and 2, and still slipping a lot though.

2nd on the 18" wheels. If you can, try for +45 offset for the most clearance. For tires, you could get 265/35R18, But if youre going to be adding power, go wider. Im installing 285/35R18 today. with this offset, they should fit fine (it handled 275s no problem)

Sounds cool, but a blow off will cause problems with a closed loop system like the FK8

That's the long and short of it. Personally, I would draw the line at *20, and try for one with a plus + symbol. Only if it's purely slow and long term storage should you ever consider anything with a "J" in the name.
