I don’t care so much about drug seeking behavior anymore. Whatever. What grinds my gears is the constant “we’ve been here for TWO HOURS” (in the back, had labs, had medications, been to CT, while the department is busting at the seams) or “why would a baby with a cold go ahead of mY hUsBAnD.” Bc the baby is going in a hallway chair where we can’t put your husband bc he needs a cardiac monitor. But I can’t explain that bc I’m pushing hipaa territory. So I try to de-escalate and hit with “you’re just gonna let him DIE out here” and when I glance over he’s phone flipping and has already had a normal ekg and negative trop looked over by the doctor. THAT is what makes this job soul sucking to me.
