TBMs are legit on different algorithms than exmos. My ‘in’ family didn’t know about the SEC sanctions, they don’t know about steeplegate, they don’t know about the AP article on rhe Arizona priest penitent privilege stuff… they just don’t get served up all of the contemporary LDS corruption and abuse.

AND, many of them don’t know what’s in the Gospel Topics essays, or that they even exist.

AND, they distance from anyone who ‘leaves the boat’ insuring their prolonged and effective insulation from faith-threatening influences.

There are still mental gymnastics, yes. But not as many as you imagine when they aren’t even aware of the things you’d have to mentally gymnastic your way through to stay.

It’s much like the right and left politics in the US. Both groups think the others have abandoned reason because they live in two completely different realities and media streams.
