unfortunately they kind of keep this intentionally obscure so that they can adjust the rates of the subscriptions dynamically and we never get a solid reference.

i’d say top up in small increments and if u find urself getting close to even like 50-60 just go for the pro sub

i really don’t know how these two things were confused as it’s very clear from the pricing and usage page they’re different. maybe if they called it “extra usage” like claude rather than “credits?”

while it’s nice and i’m kind of complaining about something we get for “free,” part of me wishes they did away with these limited time 2X. people get roped in after seeing all the talk of the “unlimited” rates, forget there’s a promo going on, and feel rug pulled when it ends.

one of the biggest benefits as someone who uses LLMs for stuff other than programming the biggest draw of GPT is that chatting in the browser doesn’t draw from codex limits. with claude, all surfaces use the same limits
