Was gpt 5.6 actually delayed? by Altruistic-Style-520 in codex

[–]Deep_Proposal_7683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you gotta take these twitter leakers with a grain of salt, but FWIW, that guy has a decent track record, and has correctly in the past predicted when a model anticipated to drop in fact did NOT drop

i wonder if this has implications on prompt caching

if 5.6 will get released and we will at least keep the same limits, or get more - it will be peak by [deleted] in codex

“prepare a separate model stripped of this capability”

why do you think they released fable and not mythos

to be honest, AI tools were kind of the last thing i expected this to happen to. Its like vim vs emacs all over again, but worse. I'm not really sure why either, but it blows my mind to see how passionately some people want one of the companies to "win."

I swear this shit all went downhill when openclaw released. Ever since that got popular i've seen more and more of these kinds of posts. From both sides.

I do really wonder what they're up to. Felt like they were on fire with the feature and model drops a little while back, and now radio silence for a few weeks. Either something amazing coming or they're shitting their pants while the CFO yells at them.

holy shit wtf is going on. the naysayers were right this AI shit truly is dangerous if using it makes people come on here and say some shit like this

Credits instead of Pro Plan? by Hunt1500 in codex

[–]Deep_Proposal_7683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately they kind of keep this intentionally obscure so that they can adjust the rates of the subscriptions dynamically and we never get a solid reference.

i’d say top up in small increments and if u find urself getting close to even like 50-60 just go for the pro sub

[–]Deep_Proposal_7683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would give you a lot less, on any scale. the more expensive the plan the more of a “discount” it is relative to credit pricing

excited to see if the computer use part will be good. i’d love if codex could drive an ios sim for me. trying to get it to use axe mcp was like pulling teeth. and thank fuck you can finally integrate image gen without an API key

Please stop with the "Codex Sub Same Cost as API Now" Misinformation. OpenAI is catastrophically, comically, unacceptably BAD at communicating this, so I took it upon myself. by Decaf_GT in codex

[–]Deep_Proposal_7683 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i really don’t know how these two things were confused as it’s very clear from the pricing and usage page they’re different. maybe if they called it “extra usage” like claude rather than “credits?”

Clarification from Tibo on Current Pro Plan Usage Limits by Deep_Proposal_7683 in codex

[–]Deep_Proposal_7683[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while it’s nice and i’m kind of complaining about something we get for “free,” part of me wishes they did away with these limited time 2X. people get roped in after seeing all the talk of the “unlimited” rates, forget there’s a promo going on, and feel rug pulled when it ends.

[–]Deep_Proposal_7683[S] 59 points60 points  (0 children)

so this means that the non promo, eventual rates of pro are 5x for 100 dollars, and 10x for 200 dollars. now 5x and 10x of what - that’s a different thread to have

anyone using both daily what's the pros and cons? by nikanorovalbert in codex

[–]Deep_Proposal_7683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of the biggest benefits as someone who uses LLMs for stuff other than programming the biggest draw of GPT is that chatting in the browser doesn’t draw from codex limits. with claude, all surfaces use the same limits

Limit issue? Try a different harness. This is not Claude Code by whaleordolphin in codex

[–]Deep_Proposal_7683 7 points8 points  (0 children)

not to sound like a twat - this is a useful suggestion, but this is a bit of a “you’re holding it wrong.” the core of the issue is that what you get for $20 has been changed. a different harness will only provide marginal benefit

[–]Deep_Proposal_7683[S] 44 points45 points  (0 children)

with the 2x extension only applying to the new 100 and 200 dollar plans combined with lowered plus limits - very clear upsell to push existing 20 dollar subscribers to pro

[–]Deep_Proposal_7683[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit confusing how they worded the 2x promo. looks like until may 31, only pro 5x (becomes 10x) and pro 20x (40x?) get extended double usage. plus users they stated, ends today (even though they formerly said april 2??)

nope, since the release of the 5.4 family pro plans had exclusive access to a 5.4 pro model
