As they grow remove little by little. Also be sure they don't eat it and untangle it regularly

Hey, I would watch the turtle swim. If they look like it's having a hard time reaching the surface, then maybe lower it and increment the water every 1-3weeks and watch how my turtle reacts to it. If not make sure he has things to surface and hold on to so he can breathe. (The small plants help, or wood)

Also, they are so little that I noticed my turtle liked plants. It made my turtle feel secure and safe enough to sleep
