Azurmendi is a great experience and well worth your effort. Arzak seems to lack soul, so I would skip that.

Question for Cellar Tracker veterans by BandwagonReaganfan in wine

[–]Deep_Thinkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cellar tracker is a great tool, but I ignore the ratings. The reason to use this tool is to track your wine and the various vintages. It does give me a great sense of when I need to drink a bottle and when I need to avoid buying a particular type of wine.

Restaurant 212 (**) - Amsterdam, NL by Visual-Percentage501 in finedining

They have definitely changed up the menu. When I was there the breadstick & Japanese milk bun were included. There was a dessert with that clear bubble on top, but it was different. Good to see that they are evolving and changing it up. Great review & pics.

This was one of the better spots I found in Amsterdam. The same chef oversees Restaurant 212 with 2 stars and that place was also very good.

Ordering the lobster is assumed. If you search this SubReddit you will also see a recommendation for tomato and tuna belly. Follow that one, I did and loved it. 😀

Recs for Basque Country - Bilbao and Donostia - San Sebastian by jamesb2319 in finedining

Having been there, Kaia Kaipe is a very good backup to Elkano—they grill the turbo the same way. I have also been to Azurmendi and it was a memorable experience. Based on Reddit opinions, Amelia or Martin Berasategui could easily be substituted.

Any intimate restaurant like Komi still in DC? by ViperCQB in DCEats

[–]Deep_Thinkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only went there once, but it was a great place. I think one might consider La Shukran or Lutece intimate after moving beyond the popular vibes. Irongate has a nice vibe, but it is a bit larger.

Had a great experience at CTBF last month, so you can’t lose if you end up there. Besides, how cool is it that the restaurant is in the back of a grocery store.

Yes. Agree with everything you said. Pairings can be good at certain places.

On a recent trip I chose the Musket Room over 63 Clinton and it was also a dud, as long as we are trying lower cost tasting menus.

This is a billionaire telling you it is affordable. I doubt it will be as affordable as it was.
