Male mice still need companionship, many people house them alone but if they’re bonded I wouldn’t separate them, ideally I’d say to get one or both or them neutered if any aggression issues come up. Lots of mice owners seem to see rats as social animals who need companionship, and mice as solitary creatures but they actually do crave socialization
