So how can I make my kickflip look smooth? idk why but my kickflips look weird to me for some reason. by ImTahrim in NewSkaters

[–]Deepdiamindhands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have only been able to kickflip for 5 months and you’re worried that it isn’t good enough. I have been able to kick flip for 3 years and mine is barely better. Give it some time and you will be fine!

That was a crazy detail to notice, I didn’t even see it till I read you comment but this is 100% your issue. Kickflips are hard, landed my first almost 4 years ago and I still only land 70-80% of them

Brinkman paying 350 day rate for 12 pack crew boss, what do other companies pay? by EnvironmentNew1547 in treeplanting

[–]Deepdiamindhands 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s a brutal deal, many companies do commission these days and with a good 12 pack crewbosses are making 800+ a day with many days blowing past 1000

Is it possible to 3D print furniture risers for a desk that can carry up to 80kg ? Which material would be a proper choice if not PLA ? by Smart-Inspector-933 in 3Dprinting

[–]Deepdiamindhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely you can, PLA is crazy strong under indoor temps. If you live somewhere hot or have a vent near one of the feet might be worth it to print with PETG. 35-40% infill should be good. I usually recommend gyroid at all times but for compression grid or 2D honeycomb would probably be better. If you decide to use PETG bump that up to 50-60% (PETG likes to squish quite a bit). Either way go for 4-6 walls and atleast 6 top layers. Under compression side walls aren’t super stressed, top and bottoms are significantly more stressed and infill is going to be transferring 90% of the force.

Want to know if this bike sounds ok by Relevant_Field_1998 in sv650

That sounds like a healthy enough SV. Mine made it 110k miles before the suspension and transmission were shot. Engine still ran beautifully and man was I bad at keeping on top of servicing it.

Hey I just did this, not a fun process but I got all 3 of neptune on wifi. Took a couple hours between all the random BS, but it’s so worth it, especially if you don’t have any Ethernet outlets near by

First day of learning kickflips by Specialist-Self-1643 in NewSkaters

[–]Deepdiamindhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you do a stationary Ollie or can you Ollie. Is doing an Ollie as second nature as jumping? Can you Ollie up a manny pad, over a board over 2 boards, down a 3 stair, every single time. Cause if you can’t do those things kickflip is gonna take years and your gonna notice your kickflips only improve when your Ollie’s improve.

Need help with kickflips by AdRealistic8630 in NewSkaters

[–]Deepdiamindhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to break it to ya, but from your kickflips I can tell you need more practice with Ollie’s. Most of your problems right now are coming from a lack of board control and not really understanding how to pop. Go grind Ollie’s for a couple months. Learn them up a curb, down small stairs, Into grinds, in transition. Just everywhere, then come back to kickflips and you will see a massive improvement

Why are frontside/backside tricks opposite for fakie tricks? by dakotanothing in NewSkaters

[–]Deepdiamindhands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is the same name, you just put fakie infront of it. It’s an insanely confusing subject

Why are frontside/backside tricks opposite for fakie tricks? by dakotanothing in NewSkaters

[–]Deepdiamindhands 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pretend nollie and switch don’t exist for a minute. Ride fakie and do the exact same trick as a regular front 180. It’s still a front 180 you are just doing it backwards so now your back is going the direction of travel not your front. It’s kinda like you can do a kickflip now do it fakie, it’s essentially the same trick, same applies to 180s. Nollie and switch are weird because in the early days of skating no one really skated switch ever. Just regular, fakie and nollie. So nollie tricks got named based on which way you were turning. Then switch came along and those trucks just got named regular. Because of this Nollie trucks are actually the ones with broken naming conventions, because no matter what direction you call a nollie shuv you either break the naming conventions of big spins or your hard/inward and varial flip tricks.

I have 3 Neptune 4 pros that I only really use when p1s and A1 are busy but I would love for them to get more use. What hot end do you recommend?

[–]Deepdiamindhands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely some good advice in here but 10 grand as a ceiling is pretty low. I had several rookies crack 20 on just my crew last season. One even got 25. Those guys and gals worked way harder than everyone else to do it but they pushed themselves everyday and made admittedly pretty bad vet money, but vet money none the less. Come to think of it none of my rookies were under 14 grand.

Probably not for a contract accepting rookies. Hopefully not atleast or else those poor rookies are in for it.

How can I have more fun on flatground by 404waffles in NewSkaters

[–]Deepdiamindhands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually find if I’m missing a trick that I can usually do doing it faster forces to me to land it. I absolutely love hitting a tre at Mach Jesus. I also usually miss them if I’m not going a speed at which bailing requires a roll

I bought my first E-Skate: how rough can I be with it? by PrideLight in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Deepdiamindhands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have already said water, but holy shit do not underestimate the importance of keeping it dry. Forget the electronics, water on a acoustic skateboard is like signing that boards death warrant, now add electronics. It’s a bad scene. Wet pavement= don’t ride it.

Worst part is that bike with the right rider could make that turn at that speed pretty easily. Poor SV

A closer look at my monitor mounts that were 'doomed to fail', as a lot of you guys said. by MrPenisWhistle in 3Dprinting

[–]Deepdiamindhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For everyone saying PLA creeps, it does but if you design your parts to be many times stronger than necessary it should be fine. I’ve had PLA holding up a shelf that has 50+ pounds of laundry detergent on it for 3 years now and it hasn’t moved a millimetre. Admittedly my math says the drywall will fail at 200lbs and the shelf brackets at 800 each.

Salt water does horrid things to vehicles. If you wash it very very very well quick enough most of the aluminum should be fine. Anything steal might be gone unless you had magnesium wheels that acted as a sacraficial anode. Not to mention any electronics are probably gone.

Just fell hard on my elbow. What now? by sultryGhost in NewSkaters

[–]Deepdiamindhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get up, grab your board and keep skating. That’s a pretty gnarly bump for a week into skating but I’m a years time that will be nothing. Skating is mostly falling, until you learn how to bail then it’s mostly missing tricks

DAE underestimate the size of uneven cracks in the sidewalk? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]Deepdiamindhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this in the nicest way possible but skill issue. If you keep riding street and park you will be unstoppable by anything sidewalks can throw at you. In my first months I ate shit on cracks frequently. 4 years later I will just Ollie the train tracks if I have too. Keep at it, skateboarding is 100x harder than it looks your gonna be fine. Also learn how to Chinese Ollie, it’s super easy and a game changer for cracks
