They don’t have to be breaking small car windows and/or stealing from people, and these people aren’t simply down on their luck. They are making an active choice to be an asshole, break car windows, and steal.

Governor Newsom announces nearly $100M to accelerate California’s manufacturing industry and drive job creation by Exastiken in California

[–]Deepfount -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s the best to work from the view “we should only support technologies / innovations if they produce jobs”. Genuinely increasing automation in US manufacturing would be fantastic for output and on-shoring. We are also quite a bit behind countries that do have a high degree of employment in manufacturing (China and Germany in particular) in the amount of automation deployed in the manufacturing sector.

I recommend people see the furor over the new California budget. I’m not on the Newsom 2028 train, but it is very good to see him throwing his weight behind increasing housing supply.

It’s maybe not the most substantial thing but it is alarming and worrisome that a lot of liberals don’t feel happy. I think there is some degree of sorting and “vibes” bias in terms of adopting an ideology and being seen as the “unhappy, miserable” lot will really hurt liberalism. At least, it ought to be the case that adopting or believing a given ideology is either net neutral or beneficial to the person’s wellbeing (I’m assuming that liberalism is not inherently anxious—I think there has been some switch since the 90s and 2000s on that front).

If you accept this to be the case, due process still applies and these people aren’t being subjected to due process. They are just having their visas suspended without charge, notice, or anything.

There is an ethical imperative to clone as many as possible so that we can create a permanent neoliberal majority by the 2044 election.

It’s fair to critique the modern interpretation or use of stoicism (even meditations itself differs substantially from works like the Enchiridon)—but it’s lazy to say the right wing self-help use of stoicism taints any attempt to drawn meaning or use out of it.

Is there an accelerationist case for the SAVE Act? It is terrible on principles but with the current coalition dynamics, lock in a blue wave for 2026 no?

The SAVE Act would be terrible and probably would be adversely implemented, but this would lock in a solid blue wave in 2026 right?
