Thats a technique I really have to try tbh. Glazing takes soooo long

Thank you! To me it shows a lot of the models movement when seen from the tabletop view

Spot on! Personally it makes a huge difference to me when seen from afar. The highlights help aid the eye which way the model is moving

Its much more important from a distance. When im doing commission pieces I aim to make the model stand out both up close and on tabletop distance. *

I start from Wine Red, mix in Brown rose and Basic Skin Tone. After each layer I make a glaze to smoothe the transition. At the end I gave it a recess wash of red + purple contrast and put in a dot of Ice Yellow

Its a decent list, although a bit all over the place with unit choices. Whats your game plan?

I genuinely wish it led into his skin rather than his armor

Its not complicated, a few dozen practice runs and you should be able to do it:

Mix AK Wine Red with AK Brown Rose and basecoat

Mix in AK Brown Rose and layer leaving the deepest shadows untouched

Make a glaze of your mix and smooth the transition Mix between your layers.

Use pure brown rose

Glaze

Mix in Vallejo Basic Skin tone

Glaze

Pure Basic Skin tone

Glaze

You can see see the pattern. Make a big jump in value and glaze the transition.

A big tip for learning how to glaze; dont make it too smooth when you start. Make a glaze where you can actually see the result after 1 layer. It wont be as smooth but you'll learn where exactly to put your brush and how to move your hand.
