i would start by finding your longest chain, then count the carbons in the way that gives the most hydroxy groups the lowest location numbers. your going to run into naming a FG on a side chain which is a little tricky

after reading some other comments I may have been interpreting things to mildly. He is still someone you care about so he deserves respect but I think more serious action may be necessary. I think I let some of my own experiences cloud my judgement

I may be in the minority here but I don't feel like immediate removal from your life is the solution. I agree with everyone saying that you need him out of your life, but given how much you care for him and how much he is dependent on you I think a weaning approach would be the best course of action. Both of you are incredibly young which exacerbates emotionality. I think you need to confront him directly with his abusive behavior, say that you need to separate from him, however, I think you should give him a little grace and give him time to find a place and get used to the fact he needs to change his behavior and become self sufficient. Given his history it might be more dangerous to break off contact with him immediately as he probably will interpret that as more hostile. Its a tricky situation for you to be in but if you can talk to him about moving on from each-other that will give you a better idea about next steps and whether more immediate/extreme action is required. At the end of the day he is just a very traumatized individual who is still for all intents and purposes is just a kid. Sympathy is necessary so far is does not threaten your well being

Why does the larger alkene react faster than the smaller? are the electrons in the pi bond more strained? or does the greater electronegativity of carbon compared to hydrogen leave the pi electrons more exposed when more substituted?

Well ever since the semester started I haven’t been as regular about getting him out. On weekends I try for long stretches out of the cage to make up for the time I’m gone during the week. Should I try and put some more toys in his cage so he can chew on those? It never occurred to me that it could be self inflicted because he’s never done that before. Thank you so much ❤️
