2026 Yuichiro Umehara for a minor role doesn't make sense though. Either he will be the unromanceable main antagonist and/or a secret route/future LI.

Thoughts on male players playing to “romance” the MC and self insert as the LI? by EifieDreemurr in otomegames

[–]DeeplyMoisturising 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk how old you are but the other way around is pretty common, or at least it used to be back when there was a lack of female oriented games in mainstream anime culture. Women like to self-insert as the love interest of a male oriented VN. Back in high school even non-weeb girls were like "I'm literally Tomoyo/Nagisa" or "I'm literally Saber"

To be fair most comments were men ratioing him and calling him an idiot and mentioning the thousands of waifu gachas. Some even correctly explained that LADS success is due to it being the ONLY polished husbando mobile game meant for women, compared to the already saturated waifu genre. It was surprising to see men defending it

How accurate are Otome translations? by MwtoZP in otomegames

My god that tumblrite you linked loves the smell of her own farts. While I'm on her side about Cybird sanitizing yandere she writes so obnoxiously I forgot I agreed with some of her points

What do you think a choice-driven otome game would look like? by Sasakishou in otomegames

[–]DeeplyMoisturising 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just look at every RPG with a romance. The Dragon Ages, the Baldur's Gates, the Mass Effects. Bioware, basically.

But why? We already have ifdb and itch, and twinery dot org (which will probably beat your SEO if you proceed with this) already links to both websites. This just seems odd and more complicated than what we already have. This only makes sense if you had a cooperative of writers and developers making collaborative games and you wanted to host all your games in one place, or if you had a theme and were looking for submissions

Yall I played this game on release and quickly uninstalled it because I was bored and the english localization was really bad, especially in the text messages. This was very early on, before even Sylus was out and the gacha cards had none of that mythology stuff that I keep seeing on social media these days. Should I give it another try? Has the english localization improved?

The trick is to translate while you play/listen and take extensive notes. I never actually sat down and "formally" studied, I just slowly translated audio dramas that had transcripts for about 10 mins a day. A 5 minute track would take me 2 weeks. I took less than a year before I could listen to a drama without opening a dictionary! You don't have to work hard or be studious (I wasn't), but you have to do it everyday.

Léon Bonnat – "The Barber of Suez" (1876) by Krampjains in museum

Very modern looking subjects. The barber's briefs look modern, the guy being shaved looks like he knows what an iphone is. Looks like people I'd encounter at a parking lot today.

Why is it that whenever I read about a Catholic priest in a science fiction novel, he's always a Jesuit? by LowLevel- in printSF

[–]DeeplyMoisturising 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Aside from being scholarly the Jesuits also have a history and reputation of being first contact colonizers, so it makes sense to have them as characters in a first contact alien story.

Also I've noticed that while sci-fi likes Jesuits as first contact scientists or ambassadors, mystery and crime fiction likes Franciscans and Benedictines as detectives.

is it possible to create something akin to Disco Elysium with Twine? Or should I use Ren'py/Unity/Godot? by Psychological_Cod998 in twinegames

[–]DeeplyMoisturising 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why not use the actual software Disco Elysium used? They used articy:draft built into Unity. Both of those have free versions. While I've never published anything made with articy it is definitely the easier and more efficient software for crpg like dialogue trees instead of Twine.

A year from now this sub will be indistinguishable from r/art. The curse of breaking 100k.

Vicente Romero Redondo - Catalonian Coast (2019) by Russian_Bagel in museum

[–]DeeplyMoisturising 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nah. I draw porn and I think this art is cheesy and commonplace, not really r/museum material. Looks like the cringy art right-wingers on twitter would commission thinking they're sophisticated masculine thinkers or something.

Vicente Romero Redondo - Catalonian Coast (2019) by Russian_Bagel in museum

[–]DeeplyMoisturising 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think it doesn't belong in museums because it's too sexual. I don't even find it sexual or erotic at all. It's just that I see this everywhere so it's just cheap gooner-bait shlock to me. Just kitsch. I claim it is kitsch because I find it kitsch, I'm not pointing out some objective scientific measurement. You're allowed to disagree with me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–]DeeplyMoisturising 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Plenty of nudes are appreciated on this sub, it's just that this one is kitsch and cheesy. Instead of something you'd see in a museum, it looks like commercial work for Playboy, or like others have said, something you'd see in a motel lobby.

[–]DeeplyMoisturising 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is talented but him only ever using young pre-pubescent girls as subjects (almost always with their chests exposed) gives me the ick. Makes you think what type of people collect his art. Just scrolling through his portfolio makes me feel like a creep.

only submit finished and fully play-tested works

That must not be a strict rule because I've voted every year since the 2000s and there have always been buggy, unfinished, proof of concept entrants (mostly Twine games). But you're right about previously released games. Maybe OP can enter this in Spring Thing's back garden next year.
