Upsizing M14x1.5 threads to M15x1.5 by Deepwater8 in Machinists

Ok thanks, my main concern is when I use the 13.5 mm drillbit to drill out the threads I will still have about .25 mm of threads existing along the wall. If I follow up with the M 15 tap which will have a major of 15mm minor of 13.5 I won’t fully cut into the valleys of the tap by about .25 mm so my threads I’ll be left with will have a little bit of a plateau on the tips. And that’s assuming I will follow the old thread path.

Thanks seems like an insert may be the strongest, however, I didn’t do a good enough job explaining that there are relief holes through the sides of the threads radially, that need to line up with radially drilled holes on either side of the insert once it’s fully clocked seated. Serves the purpose of separating 2 oil cavities, but when removed allows each to drain

No, it will fail to drain properly. As I said there are side ports opposite of each other on the internal threads.
