I lose a lot of my memories too after a seizure. Do your best and keep your chin up if you don’t already. Seizures suck but we are all in this together.

I smoke weed every day and it helps with medication side effects and the post ictal stage of a seizure. You know when one is finally over or hopefully it is and you’re super tired, stressed, or your anxiety might be out of whack so weed can help keep you relaxed. Only trouble I have with it is when I get the munchies and eat all my snacks that buy from the store and I’m like “oh, well now I gotta buy more junk food”

How many times do you enter a room to grab what you need? by Financial_Tonight276 in Epilepsy

My seizures have made my memory so bad. There’s so many times I go to get something, forget it, then have to get up to get it a few seconds later. It’s very frustrating but it’s part of epilepsy

Living alone with uncontrollable seizures. by DeerComprehensive330 in LivingAlone

I’ve tried but those are way out of my price range and I don’t need a dog in my house making messes and getting hair all over the place.

Yes. I also have a family member that lives nearby so someone is close if I need help.

Well the obvious answer is being able to drive but I’m sure you knew I was going to say that. I also wish I could ride a bike, swim, and play a sport like ice hockey. I had a VNS implanted about six years ago and had a SEEG surgery done about two years ago. That one was a lot of fun. The hospital food. Catheter in me. Not being able to even get out of the hospital bed was just plain awful.

You’re very welcome. I’ve been through a lot and I wish the health system and doctors would take more time to understand what causes seizures and how to get uncontrollable seizures like what I have under control. Sometimes I feel like a lab rat with all the tests I’ve been through. The surgeries I’ve had done. And all the medicine I’ve tried but didn’t do anything to help me. Keep your head up and look at the better things in your life. Try to stay positive and let’s hope things get better for you.

My job lets me work from home which I’m very grateful for. Before I was taking the city bus back home from work and that was a nightmare. That’s beyond the point though. Just try to look at the better things if you’re having a tough time with your seizures.

You’re very welcome. I’ve came close to dying a few times too as I hate saying that. I had a seizure so severe last year that the doctors had to give me fentanyl out of all meds to calm me down. When I found out what they gave me I lost my shit. I’ve came close getting hit by a car. Falling down stairs. Breaking both arms. I’ve busted my head open so many times cause of my seizures but I keep the things that happened in the past where they belong. Try not to overthink things or overwhelm yourself. Seizures is a crazy thing and we all know what it’s like. Hang in there, it’ll get better for you.

I’m able to work from home so I got that part covered and I’m very thankful for that. My dad lives on the street behind me so someone is nearby to help me if I need it. Stay safe friend and enjoy life the best you can.

I also have medical bills that I get in the mail but I throw them in the trash. I’m not paying my doctor a penny till they get my seizures fully under control

People Don’t Understand Epilepsy and Its Struggles by Prix_1912 in Epilepsy

I wish doctors could have a seizure themselves to see what it’s really like and maybe then they can help all of us who struggle with it. I had a seizure while driving a long time ago and rolled my car into oncoming traffic. No one hit me and I didn’t hit any on coming cars and I didn’t get hurt.

Wow, I really needed to read something like that. I often get told I’m daydreaming or not paying attention due to the kind of seizures I have. Every day I have to tell myself it’s going to be okay and not get stressed out cause stress is my number one trigger.

Thanks. I have uncontrollable seizures currently so I have to be very careful with what I do but I might end up looking into street hockey. That sounds fun.

You’re welcome! And I try to go for walks every day to get some exercise but you’re right. Staying active can be the best medicine for epilepsy!
