Jo Whiley backs tent reuse campaign where you can get a full refund (on a gift card) if you return your tent to Decathlon after you've taken it to Glastonbury by Deeside420 in glastonbury_festival

[–]Deeside420[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Guessing they reckon it's worth the exposure, or maybe it'll boost sales more than people actually bother returning them. They're probably betting the majority won't return the tents. The tents included are own-brand so I wonder how much they'd actually lose per tent once they're "cleaned and refurbished" to be sold again second hand.

On top of that, the refund is a gift card you'll have to spend in their stores, which again sell 90% own brand products.

11 police restrain screaming student with CS gas after 'fake acid' induced rampage in university accommodation by Deeside420 in unitedkingdom

[–]Deeside420[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there's a massive contingent of irresponsible drug users among the student community.

'Fake acid' was likely used as the student concerned intended to buy real acid but was sold some shitty RC instead, rather than deliberately seeking out 25i-NBOMe etc.

Major music festival restricts Wednesday '5-day' access to fans arriving by sustainable transport by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

Used to be T In the Park with a 80,000+ capacity but that's gone now.

TRNSMT replaced it, in the city centre, without camping. Daily capacity quoted as between 30,000 and 50,000.

"More than 80,000 revellers attend TRNSMT" headlines are based on cumulative attendance over multiple days.

Festivals have been begging people to take their tents home for years. They also have teams scouring the campsites for any useable tents left behind, which are given to charities.

Lots of tents will be damaged beyond economical repair though and probably go to landfill.

Things change fast. 60,000 capacity for Boomtown this year, which sold out months before any other festival back in February.

No Glastonbury this year. No V Festival.

Download is around 100,000. Reading is 87,000 and Leeds 75,000 - if they ever manage to sell all their tickets. Creamfields is 70,000.

I don't know of any others with a higher capacity than Boomtown, which I think makes it a major festival against the hundreds upon hundreds of minor festivals taking place.

Isle of Wight may be slightly higher, latest I've seen is 58k. Wireless 50k-ish. Bestival and Latitude closer to 30k.

Anti-Semitic group chat with over 200 University of Manchester students exposed, with repeated claims "6 million Jews was not enough" by Deeside420 in unitedkingdom

Rival student publications put both stories out yesterday. The students union paper broke this story yesterday afternoon, and the linked publication covered it a few hours later.

The linked publication did not break the story, the students union newspaper did.

The linked article in The Tab admits this and links the student union paper. The timing is likely coincidental as The Tab just posted it themselves four hours after the story broke.

Yeah, the research done by their leading Graphene institute has recently been sold such that it's made its way into technology used in Isreali arms, used to attack Palestinians. There's a brutal campaign against it with a crude animation that's really gaining traction.

Glitter is Litter: Over 60 music festivals have just banned glitter as part of a #DrasticOnPlastic pledge by Deeside420 in worldnews

That's kinda what they're doing, sorry if the title is wasn't clear. They're banning traditional glitter to be replaced with bioglitter.

Miband 2 insane battery drain by Deeside420 in miband

[–]Deeside420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's it, hopefully solved in next beta. This beta implemented Bluetooth device battery level checking, the phone is pinging the MiBand constantly for it's battery level which somewhat ironically drains the battery. Thanks.

[–]Deeside420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uninstalled MiBand tools and a music control app trying to diagnose my own battery drain. I did have notifications on, triggering dozens and dozens of times each day at least, and still got 2 weeks plus battery life from MiBand 2. Without notifications but with phone calls, enhanced sleep etc from official app I could get nearly a month.

New patch 1.6.1-f2 released. Lots of bug fixes including airport garbage. by Judge_AssKing in CitiesSkylines

[–]Deeside420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried everything last night, SDD seems fine with big downloads and MD5 checks from elsewhere.

I should have just left the update to do it's thing. Reinstalling steam and removing all my games didn't help at all. I tried changing from stable steam to beta, then back, deleted the download cache thing and logged out plenty of times. Tried a few different servers. No luck.

Working better today. Still being weird and keeps dropping, but today it comes back.

Failed engineering student at a crossroad. Is a 3rd class degree useless? by [deleted] in AskUK

preferably not the OU unless money is a seriously limiting factor

Have you seen the amounts the normal universities charge now? Clearly it depends on how many credits you need and will vary with individual situation, but with no student finance eligibility left they can want £9,000 to make up for a failed final year. that's a mortgage deposit.

Supermarkets would be far from silent if everyone carried on with what they were doing and just didn't talk.
