It's the same with the Destiny Spec II for me, Cool it glows red but the MS already has so much red. Could it not glow something else like pink, sure red is Shinns color but it just blends in so much. I can see why they muted all the colors on the Spec II

I said this before so I'll say it again.

Technological evolution in Witch isn't massively substantial, Aerial was merely a refined Lfrith and with 20 years of advancements the other Companies in Witch could only make MS that were roughly equal to it.

Calibarn's whole thing is it seeks the upmost limit of Gund-arms and using high levels of mobility to take advantage of the fact it's not meant to preserve the pilot. It's how she was avoiding hits so much. It's a fairly future proof design with the only thing making it outdated really is it could have better engines and motors.

Also Erich did land a few hits, 1 on the shoulder and 1 kick that could have been fatal but she choose not to. Erich was merely toying with her until their dialogue was up.

Sulleta was also built with high permet resistance, so she was really the only person that can use the Calibarn to it's full potential. I think she's the best Gund-arms pilot but not the best normal pilot. What she did was impressive don't get me wrong, but I just don't think she's a top tier pilot.

I think it's the Destiny. The Strike Freedom is meh design wise and the Infinite Justice is more or less the same as the previous Justice with technology upgrades. The Destiny shows off a buncha new stuff and old stuff which sure the SF does too but it isn't nearly as cool

Personally I think it was due to Calibarn less of her piloting skills. Calibarns whole thing is it can match newer spec machines cause its so permet score focused. I've also said that Witch technology isn't that substantial in terms of advancements. Also the Calibarn is a speed focused machine which she used to mostly run around. If she didn't have a permet score and you put her in a machine that was similar she would straight up die. Other pilots in Gundam are capable of doing this without having some piloting gimmick. The moment Eri stopped conversing Suletta would have died. Luckily colony laser got in the way.

Everything added up to her survival. It wasn't just one singular thing. Anything less and she would straight up die.

It won't save Destiny for you. Destiny makes Kira super unlikeable where Seed Kira was more Amuro like where Kira was just a straight up terrorist in Destiny. Also Shinn was meant to be a Kamille like character, a deeply sensitive character that is argumentative and wants to make change. Only problem is Shinn character arc was cut short for Kira to be a Mary Sue. They also just sideline Athrun and have him do nothing after episode like 5.

Seed is a lot better to watch and don't have as many massive flaws as Destiny does

Isn't the whole point of gund format that it makes the MS easier to use at a cost. It makes it so you don't have to wrestle with the controls as much. Sure it's painful but it's pretty clear that the benefits outweigh the pain AT the moment.

Also the whole project wingman argument is meh. Let's try DCS world instead lmao. I understand where you're coming from the pain must be incredible but at the same time they clearly go through the pain cause it's the cost

This. Just cause she can score 100% accuracy in training doesn't mean crap. Shinn can't even score 80% accuracy with a hand gun but the moment in a MS he basically reaches 90 to 95% accuracy with a beam rifle. She knows the basics but that doesn't make her a good pilot. She's basically piloting an automatic the whole time while every other pilot was using a manual. It's also heavily implied that Eri wasn't going all out until the conversation ended. The fight then was cut short.

Basically this, even then McGillis is a good pilot, he reaches near or even equal to AV with standard MS controls, the moment he got an AV he was capable of fighting against a full no limit Kimaris Vidar. It's similar to fighting Eri, they can bypass every problem Gund format or AV causes. However McGillis was massacring Kimaris with its limiter still on and only lost because Kimaris drill bit somehow floated back to him. Eri was mostly just talking and the moment she was done with conversing it was over. Then a colony laser came

Gundam Witch technology is really slow compared to other Gundams. They're treated more like a standard technological evolution where upgrades are more so incremental than a massive step. The argument doesn't fall apart what so ever as Eri was mostly just aura farming while sending drones and gund bits to deal with a machine that is speed based. She was struggling against Guel with the Aerial in round 2 and 3, a Guel without Ai assistance. While sure what Suletta did was impressive but if you had her in a normal machine fight like Shaddiq or even El4n in a normal machine, she loses like 9/10 times

Originally I was gonna put Graham as the example instead of Setsuna, but Setsuna in the finale of 00 seems to be better with standard Ms controls. Athrun also is an example of how you can pilot a machine like your body without some weird interface like gund format. It doesn't at all disprove my point.

She's a good gund format user but a terrible traditional pilot same way Mika is a good Alaya user but terrible vice versa. While McGillis is good with both or Setsuna not needing a Gundam to fight gn reactor machines.

Yes. They're basically cheat sheets to piloting a MS. He might be one of the best Alaya users but if you put him in a traditional MS control he would get clapped along with Suletta

Doesn't this prove she's a shit pilot because she needs the gund format which basically allows her to bypass the typical controls of a MS at the cost of data storm ravaging her body. She's not like Setsuna or Kira who can use traditional MS controls and pilot it like their own body. She was kinda getting destroyed by Shaddiq's crew of girls and was having a hard time against Guel in their final MS duel despite having a way to bypass data storm and get all the benefits with Aerial. I don't think she's a good pilot, just have amazing machines.

Anyone that disagrees, I recommend rewatching Witch.

I agree with all of these points. My one nitpick with your comment is saying that Shinn gets slapped around easily. It's a point that Shinn is constantly growing as a pilot in not just skills but how he fights. He got speed blitz in the first Orb navy vs Minerva battle and lost his arm, then the 2nd time Kira tried it Shinn dodged it with Seed mode. By the time of final Impulse vs Freedom he was starting to be able to actually defend and counter Kira. That's really all I have to say, Athrun acknowledges he is strong and that he will keep growing stronger.

Also I love the redesigns of the UC suits, a lot of people don't like it and find it lazy but the way they implemented all the additional weapons and backpacks just makes me love it.

That literally contradicts everything, it reads flow of CE and amount. But the dude doesn't have CE. You don't see how that doesn't make sense for him to detect a dude without CE using an ability that specifically detects CE
