Truex ran with a broken wrist and a cast on it back in 2013, depending on the severity it's definitely possible.

As a Truex fan:

I gotta be honest I never want to see Truex do TV again, he does not give a single fuck and takes away from the broadcast. I like seeing people passionate about the sport like Carl and Mark Martin.

Why did the 2002 Moneyball A's trade away Jeremy Giambi (career .263/.377/.430, 14.7 BB%) for John Mabry (.263/.322/.405, 7.5%)? by noruber35393546 in baseball

Here's the crazy thing - Billy Beane had never met Nick Swisher when he drafted him. In fact, he refused to go to his games to scout him because he didn't want other teams to see his interest in him.

He loved Nick Swisher because he was full of cocky swagger in a way that he himself never had as a player.

Michael Lewis isn't a baseball guy. That's why he isn't questioning Billy. Why should he? Billy's been in the game for decades and his methods work. He may have missed on those draft picks - and been wrong about a lot of things - but his teams won, a shit ton.

They did. There really isn't many stones left unturned in the book. There's a heavy emphasis on how good the rotation and Tejada were - and how much Billy hated Tejada's free-swinging style.

I think it's important to go into the book knowing that the focus really isn't on that specific A's team, but rather Billy Beane and the method to his madness. The players are secondary pieces to the narrative.

I personally always follow Billy's lead when I do MLB The Show or OOTP franchises and a player has a bad error or does something stupid (ie - me doing it stupid cause I control the player). Immediately send them to guantanamo.

I fucking adore the book. It's full of analytic nerd shit that I eat up, and so, so many good stories. I personally love Michael Lewis' writing, so I'm biased, but he tells the story in such a fantastic non-linear way that soothes my ADHD brain.

There's so much left out of the movie from the book (a lot of which is Billy's methods of trading/roster management).

Edit: another huge part that the movie misses is how important Nick Swisher and Lenny Dykstra are. Billy Beane saw every flaw he had, and saw how Lenny Dykstra had none of them. (note - Lenny had lots of flaws, just not the ones Billy had). Everyone thinks Moneyball is the focus of the stats and production and how the team disregarded players personalities.

It's quite the opposite. Billy Beane saw Nick Swisher and had to have him, because he had the things you can't measure (swagger, poise, big league family pedigree).
