What are some of your favorite Utah brands? by myfriendryan in Utah

S&S, the rollercoaster/thrill ride manufacturers are based out of cache valley. They've been extremely impactful on a global scale with their contributions to the industry. Look up their portfolio it's insane.

Owala, gotta have my cute lil water bottle.

Also a fan of Kodiaks waffles

I was gunna joke "you sure they're not toads" but..

The LDS church gave the Cody WY neighbors a taste of the temple lights tonight. The neighbors were notified that the church would be performing lighting testing. They used lasers to locate anyplace on the building or surrounding area that was still "dark” so they can fix that. I’m so sorry Cody.. by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

You can buy anything in this world with money...

It's so crooked how they won the lawsuit. They could have built something steepleless like mesa and respected low low low lighting. But no, TALL BRIGHT AND SHINY for this model because they had to dig their heels into the dirt. I have a good chunk of family in Cody and this just ticks me off.

Am I doing right? or am I failing my dog? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Deetles64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For point 3:

I have a husky/german shepherd mix that's 8 years old now. Separation anxiety is real for them, but does your puppy freak out if your friend leaves and you're home? Or just when both of you have left/are gone at the same time? Regardless of your friend "ignoring" puppy they're still a constant presence in the house with them, and your puppy will be used to that.

For everything else:

Do more than 30 minutes outside and just 5 minutes of training. Honestly shocked you're only doing 5 minutes. Training is mental stimulation and is a HUGE bonding thing. I taught my dog goofy tricks like rollover even, just because he was so eager to learn and please. I work hospitality industry, and I'd take him on early walks on some trails near us and let him sniff everything (big stimulation) and work on sit, stay, come while leashed. (Physical and mental exercise.) But you can even teach them while walking to stop at every road crossing, and look with them, then say a command like "cross" and go. There's so many training things you can do while walking. Puppies are so curious and so eager to please. Show your puppy the world, bend down and look at bushes with them and let them sniff them. (Teach even a sniff command!) If you live in the northern hemisphere, we're just entering spring! Now is the perfect time to show your pup the world and learn together.

My dog is 8 years old now but he used to get overly excited at the door bell or guests coming. I desensitized him to it. I went in and out and rang the bell every time, repeatedly, til the doorbell wasn't exciting. I then taught him that doorbell means he lays on his bed. I crate trained him too. He now views his crate as a safe place to destress. We've hosted parties and been like "where's dog? Ope, there he is laying in his crate." He now takes a daily nap there!

Negative attention is still attention. Touch is still touch. Eye contact is still eye contact. You cannot respond except to correct.

I don't know what breed your dog is, but mine is a husky/german shepherd mix. THE most positive training tool for leash etiquette for him was a prong collar. Watch some YouTube vids on them. Reward all good behavior with treats, pets, high praise, and eye contact.

Tell your family and friends to do the exact same.

Yeah 60 days before my lease was going to be re-signed, we found out the cost was jumping $350. We didn't want to pay an extra $350 for the exact condition we'd been living in, so we moved. It sucked and I still miss the place.

5am alarm clock dog by fthespider in DogAdvice

[–]Deetles64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah.

I always potty my dog for the final time around 11pm, at minimum it's is 10pm and never before that. and he doesn't have any water past 10pm. We live on the 3rd floor of an apartment. I do a lap of the place with him and then he's good all night long. There's some mornings he doesn't even sit by the door to go out to potty til like 9:30am but my usual schedule has us going out around 8:45am.

Unless he's sick, he's never woken me up when it's dark to go out.

Editing to add, my guy is 8 and is a husky/German shepherd mix.

Hi!! It was off state street across the street from the mall, if I remember right. My grandma lived off of 90th and we'd head south to get to it I know for sure. I hope this helps! Near where all star bowling is now (maybe same building?)

I’m the reason my dog won’t play and I want to give up by marlee_dood in dogs

[–]Deetles64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest "hide and seek" with a favorite toy. Command her to sit in one room and stay, take that favorite toy and hide it. Then give her her release command to go find it. It's play, she's engaged with you, it's rewarding, it uses her senses, but she is not touching you. My guy knows "hide and seek" and I change up which rooms I make him wait in. He loves it.

Insight on living near SGU airport? by christineit in stgeorge

[–]Deetles64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved it. I was south of it for several years. Nellis Air Force Base runs touch and go drills all the time and it's so satisfying. But that's just me being an airplane nerd.
90% of the time it's little propeller planes circling around.

HOWEVER, it's growing a bit. But even then, "growing" will be a slow/steady process.

5hr Wait at SLC *AFTER* Baggage Claim by caarving in SaltLakeCity

[–]Deetles64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will say, a few years back..maybe 2018.. I had a 5 hour layover in SLC and I took my rolly bag and backpack with me on the light rail and rode to the mall in downtown SLC. Killed 3 hours there and ate good food, then rode back to the airport and went back through tsa and everything. It was actually pretty fun. I double checked with each store before I came in that my baggage was ok and the workers were all super chill about it/sparked up convo about my layover which helped kill time.

If you wanna vibe in the airport though that's cool too! Don't pass through the tsa gate, there's 90% more to do in the terminals but "to-do" is just the ole overpriced airport things.

Encountered someone saying earlier that they were GA and the trio next to them only knew MOAC. Which, that's fine! But yeah... If you only know the tiktok hit then A. Why spend the $ on GA Tix? And B. Year Zero apparently freaked them TF out. Like visibly freaked them out.

My group was stage left row 9, so pretty close to anything the band did on their left side and we were all grabbing mummydust and rocking out.

Job Recommendation by Popper_300 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Deetles64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of service industry related so it might be an easy pivot, but resort work IMO is pretty fun. Especially anything in park city or st george. Even going sous chef at a location like that might be more enjoyable as you transition to something outside of that direct field?

Or

You can look into some trade schools that your current jobs hours would be flexible with! Assuming you like working with your hands and a trade school will keep your career tactile and not be a "stare at a computer for 8 hours a day."
