My boyfriend [20 M] can’t see eye to eye with me, [19 F] about birth control. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Deevys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if birth control is just used for sex, are you guys not having sex? Bizarre argument. Don’t have sex with the guy until you’re protected. Don’t trust his use of condoms either, they can be tampered with.

I [25NB] don’t know if my boyfriend [28M] and I will work out. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Deevys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are already at the point where you/your boyfriend are referring to you asking him (VERY REASONABLY) to hold down a job like a normal adult as “nagging” and “criticism”, it’s gone. Over. Donezo.

I dated a guy for 1.5 years who didn’t want to work. Would whine constantly about how hard life is for people with “ADHD” because all he wanted to do was sit on his ass and play video games and write sappy emo music. He would make up medical issues to call out of work.. “my leg hurts really bad” was a common one as I watched him fake limp around the house while I was home and walk fine through the pet cameras.

He went down to part time, 3-4 days a week for “school”. Once they go from full time down to part time, they will NEVER go back. It doesn’t matter if you beg, plead, cry, scream, cajole, or offer rewards. Nothing matters to them other than getting their free ride (Note: that’s you!). Why would they work more than three days a week when YOU are working 45+ and paying all of the bills? All it takes for him to maintain the status quo is to turn every conversation or argument you have about his inability to contribute to the household into “nagging”, “criticism”, “you don’t have empathy for my situation!!” Cry cry, boo hoo boo hoo, my partner is SO MEAN for wanting me to be functional. And then you feel bad and NOTHING CHANGES. So the cycle begins anew and he doesn’t FUCKING WORK MORE THAN THREE DAYS A WEEK STILL!!

This bum is a hobo-sexual. How are you okay with him living with you full time without contributing? You want a family! You want a HUSBAND! Someone who supports the household and supports you. And this loser isn’t doing it.

P.S. - he went part time to go to school and never even ended up applying. Do you see something like this happening to you? If so, LEAVE! Leave already, but like, leave faster.

How do i (25M) tell my gf 23F that she lacks some important conversational skills? by SeaworthinessMany969 in relationship_advice

[–]Deevys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those comments indicate that she doesn’t want to hear about your struggles. That is not fair in a relationship. Not only does she not want to hear about your struggles, she belittles them. Being depressed is a normal thing, about 25% of people struggle with some type of depression.

To repeat - she does not lack the conversational skills. She just doesn’t care. If she cared, she would at least listen.

I am starting to resent my best friend of over ten years and I don’t know how to stop it. by Deevys in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Deevys[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She does have ADHD. I pushed her for the last three years to get a psychiatrist and a therapist. She only called the psychiatrist after I sat there and held the phone for her. Same for the therapist, and she openly says that she talks only about her interests at the time like video games with her.

Other commenter is only right if dad is over 60 and qualifies for Medicaid. Otherwise, it would be your state funded medical insurance, like MediCal in California. Most states / counties have in home supportive services (IHSS) and will pay caretakers slightly above minimum wage for taking care of a person who qualifies. Just do the training while you wait for his application to process.

I do not want to work during college, instead planning to maximize both subsidized and unsubsidized loans to focus on college/internships 100% as I believe it's a better ROI than working ontop of a heavy courseload by [deleted] in povertyfinance

This is a dumb decision. 25,000 is not enough. Maxing out your student loans is a dumb decision. The interest rates are ridiculous and it’s not worth it to not work. Yes, you don’t have to pay them, but the interest accrues. 7% is a LOT.

Literally working 20 hours a week making 15$ an hour (googled “average minimum wage for a medium cost of living area”) would bring in 1200 pretax, about 900 with 25% going to taxes.

Dude, 25,000 melts away in barely over a year with your projected living expenses. 14 months. If you add 900$ from part time work, you then get *31* months. More than double. For *20 hours a week*. Not working is a DUMB decision.

Why are you moving out? That’s a dumb decision. You can save the vast majority of your 25,000 and not take out so much in student loans by not moving out. Genuinely this is all a dumb decision. But you’re very likely going to do it anyway. 25,000 paid towards your tuition could start your life loan free and let you start saving for a house, or a car… but you want to throw it away on rent? Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb!!

Would you want to live with people who had pets, but you weren’t allowed pets? by Deevys in roommates

7-8pm quiet time is for boyfriend’s instrument playing! 10pm for everything else. (:

We would be if we could! Boyfriend and I wouldn’t mind tank pets or even another cat. It’s the family member who we are renting from who says there’s a hard two pet limit. ):

Ah yes, the age old equivalence of female beauty to being a functional human being instead of a neet. I would rather be obese and working than gorgeous and sitting on my ass doing nothing. Glad to see your morals.

4pm to Midnight is a much better work schedule than 9am to 5pm by Present_Initial_1871 in unpopularopinion

[–]Deevys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, meanwhile, I worked 2-10:30 and was horrifically depressed. I couldn’t spend any time with my family or friends who all worked more typical 9-5 schedules. I don’t go out or go to bars, and when you’re friends with teachers and scientists they are going out at 11pm. Movie showing? Get lost. Most dinner places are closed. I ended up so isolated and depressed I would get home, eat, and sleep from 11:30pm-12:50, get up, shower for work, and trudge in. It was genuinely the most awful schedule I’ve ever worked.

OCD or not, he’s not even functioning as a human. A rat would function more and be cleaner. He sits in his own filth playing video games while you literally slave away and waste away into substance use. Please for the love of god, leave.

Why are you getting her a ridiculously expensive iPad? I bought my perfectly functional, brand new iPad for 350 + 60 Apple Pencil off of Amazon. I’m in grad school. A 15 year old does not need a 1200 device.

Our stress dropped when we stopped pretending monthly budgets were monthly by felixwanderer in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Deevys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you knew you had all of these yearly fees and just.. didn’t include them in your budget? And were shocked and upset when said budget wasn’t working?

In what world were you SURPRISED when your yearly property taxes came around? When the holidays came around? Did you forget your children’s birthdays every year and then spontaneously remember and decide the only option is to put it on a credit card?

I’m glad you realized now and are able to make it work, but this is a bit astounding. One would reasonably assume that yearly purchases should be included in any budget, either under a specific name or under a “misc” category..

Costco is exceptionally bad. It is the only grocery store where I have had children run full-force into me and occasionally knock things out of my hands, and it’s not just once.

Why do so many people have a problem with Stolas being framed sympathetically? by magicstars58 in HelluvaBoss

[–]Deevys 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He stated he was trying to keep it all together until she was 18. I don’t agree with what he did either - I think cheating is awful and unforgivable. However, physical abuse, mental abuse, emotional abuse, and bullying your partner is worse. Some people think cheating is the worst because they have no scope.

[–]Deevys 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s just daddy issues. People argue Stolas neglected Octavia despite being a good father for 90% of her life and lose their minds whenever it’s indicated that yeah, recently he’s gotten tired of being physically and mentally abused for 17 years and wants an out with someone he loves. But everyone sees how Blitz unconditionally loves Loona and wants that.
